I am thinking of gifts for my bridesmaids. My wedding is at Christmastime, and I was thinking of doing the following:

Get a small L.L. Bean personalized tote for each of them.

Inside, put some comfy flannel pajamas, a Christmas Cookie scented Yankee Candle (since we are having a Christmas cookie buffet at the reception), and a pretty pewter personalized Christmas ornament.

What do you think? Would you rather get one "big" (say $50 to $60) gift, or would you like the totes with the smaller gifts inside?

Wow - Can I be a bridesmaid? In my era we always got necklaces or earrings to be worn in the wedding. I had Christmas cookies at my wedding too! (December 22,1990)

Smaller tote with goodies inside it. Can I be a bridesmaid? :teeth:

I would like the gifts you mentioned! Practical and ties in with your wedding & the holidays. :)

I'd rather have the smaller gifts than a big one.

I like one big gift.

I gave my matron of honor diamond earrings.
My maids of honor pearl and diamond earrings
My flower girl pearl earrings.

All the men received gold watches. The best man received a diamond gold watch.

:earseek: Yikes! I wouldn't know how to react to such a nice gift. My husband's never given me diamond anything but my engagement ring! :rotfl:

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE the LLBean tote bag with cozy PJs, yummy candle, etc. Yery cute and different for a bridesmaid gift! Great idea. I think they'd really like it. :sunny: And useful afterwards!

I think it's a great idea! My favorite bridesmaid gift was a little bag of goodies like scented candles, a frame, candy, body wash, etc.

Other times I've been a bridesmaid, I've just gotten a necklace or earrings to wear with the dress-- most of them I've never worn again.

Really? That is great! Did people eat the cookies? My caterer keeps telling me that people won't eat them - we are having cake too - but I think that on December 10th, it'll be a fun thing to do. And they don't cost all that much!

Besides, if people don't eat them, I'm sure my father will be more than happy to box 'em up and feast until Christmas!!

I know you didn't ask me... ;) But since I'm here, I have to say that I went to a wedding a year ago that had a cookie table in April as well as a cake, and everyone LOVED it! :goodvibes So I'm sure during the holidays, it would definitely be a hit!

Our favors from that wedding were boxes of the cookies though... :rotfl: I was a little cookied out when I got home after gorging myself on them and they went stale before I had a chance to enjoy them. :teeth:

If I was in your wedding I would love the gift. LLBean and Yankee candles are my favorites.

The cookies were eaten - but if not, like you said, easy to box and take. My family did all take plates of extras. We made them ourselves (me, my mom, my sister, my SIL, and MIL) so it was very "homey". I got asked for recipes later, so I know people ate them.

I think the tote bag is a great idea. You go girl :wave2:

I think the tote bag with goodies inside is a wonderful idea!! If I were a bridesmaid I would love it.. :goodvibes
