I know there are many stories to the bride in the attic. One is that she broke up with the ghost host. Threw her ring out the window and the ghost host murdered her and then hung him self.
Another is that the salesman from the bridal shop came in and gave the bride some last minute flowers. And the ghost host saw them and thought she was cheating on him and killed them both and yet again hung him self.:bride:

Have you ever been to doombuggies.com? They have lots of info there. :earseek: :earseek:

The story that I heard was that the wedding guests were playing a game of hide and seek and the bride hid in the trunk in the attic. The trunk locked and she suffocated. The groom was so heartbroken he hung himself.
The ring story has been made up by Disney guests. The imprint was actually from a pipe that was used for the scaffolding when the mansion was built. It was sawed off at ground level when they were finished and it left the imprint that is there.

The story we heard on the KTTK tour was that Madame Leota (the head maid) wanted to marry Master Gracey but he bought this mansion and went for a walk in the village where he met his future bride, Emily. Madame Leota asked Master Gracey if she could help Emily prepare for the wedding and he said yes. Madame Leota hired a male seamtress and when Master Gracey saw the seamtress helping Miss Emily prepare for the wedding he mistook what was happening and killed Miss Emily by throwing her out the window (hence the ring on the ground). Master Gracey then had Madame Leota do a seance so that he could speak with Miss Emily and Miss Emily told him that Madame Leota had set up the whole thing so that the Master Gracey would not marry Emily. Master Gracey then cut off Madame Leota's head and put it in the ball where she would have to talk to ghosts forever. The person hanging from the ceiling in the first room is thought to be either the seamstress who Master Gracey hung or Master Gracey who hung himself after learning that her had killed his one true love for the wrong reason.

BTW Madame Leota wanted to marry Master Gracey but figured if he never married the money would be left to all the servants so she would get his money one way or the other.

Funny looking pipe. The one I saw at WDW had a "gem" attached to it.

that's interesting Chess...I just did the KTTK tour and we were told a story that was a little different. Madame Leota did work for Gracey and had a crush on him. He wanted to marry Emily and Mme Leota was jealous. Emily liked to play pranks on Gracey and decided to play one last prank on him before the wedding, she wanted to hide, and asked Mme Leota where she could find a good place. Mme Leota, seeing her chance to get rid of her rival, suggested a trunk in the attic. Emily took her advice and got in the trunk, but Mme Leota locked her in and she suffocated. When it was time for the wedding, Gracey was very worried when his bride didn't show up and started looking for her. Finally in the attic he spied part of her wedding gown sticking out of the trunk and found her body inside it. In his grief he threw his ring out the window and killed himself.

at least that's what Lauren our guide told us, don't know what happened to Mme leota afterwards thoguh...

What it actual was, was an old gate. There was a gate there that had a pole that went into the ground to shut it, when they removed the gate they tried to remove the metal peice for the hole (so they could fill it in) but it would not come out. They tried to pry it out with a screw driver and broke the tip of the screw driver (thus the gem). So what you see is actually the hole which the gate locekd down into and the tip of the screwdriver that they tried to take it out with. Makes for a great story though...

Alnog with Dommbuggies.com this page is great for the stories. It has the ghosts listed with their tales of whoa! Most of it is made up by the CM's not by the imagineers, but it is fun :)

TxSleepingBeauty... The story that you have written is the closest version to what I was told when I trained at the Haunted Mansion. I worked there for 3 years. I have heard all the stories that are posted, but yours is the closest to the one that is told amongst the CM's. If you read the above link I gave you, the story that is there is the one that is circulated amongst the CM's :)

I love hearing all the stories of how the bride actually got up there. It's a very fascinating story to say the least and I cannot wait to see what spin the movie puts on that tale along with Madam Leota who can be seen in the preview clips  HM is one of my favorites rides in the whole park and it's got a really intriguing history that's for sure.
