Bride/Groom ears?

Hi Bestla,

I've got a sneaky plan to get DF to wear the ears. We're getting embroidered Mickey Ears for all of our guests delivered to their hotels for when they check in thru Disney Floral. I'm going to *try* and have them do the same for us... and have them deliver our ears to our hotel.

That way I can say when we check in, "Oh look honey, they're already here! How did that happen??:confused3 We might as well wear them now or it will be a waste of a perfectly good hat. Plus, your mother will love it!!"

Brilliant!! :thumbsup2

MORE expensive?? It's like the entire Disney industry is purposefully making it more difficult for us to humiliate our new husbands.

This just isn't right. :rotfl:

HAHAHA :rotfl2: I think so!!! When I went down in June I took pictures of random guys wearing them and said See they are wearing them.

My husband wore his light purple Princess Hat during our wedding :rotfl2: I and the other women in our wedding party had our hair done at Bibbity Bobbity Bootique (not my idea!)

It was a fun and casual wedding with family and friends and they are still speaking to us:rolleyes1

We bought a bride headband and regular mouse ears and made baseball caps so we could keep the sun off (and not get a headband headache!). The bride and grooom ball caps were like 10 bucks on eBay. We bought the ears at Disneyland - you can't buy them online unless you do eBay or the Laughing Place Store, which marks them up.

That is awesome. I was actually planning on doing that for myself (well, ok, enlisting my mom's help), since the Groom's ears don't fit on my monstrosity of a head. The top hat kinda perches on top of my hair...really quite funny to see. I'll try and dig up the picture I took in the store. I can't let Katy get all the attention wearing her bride ears and not have something for me!

How did you affix the ears themselves, if you don't mind me asking? I'll probably put them on backwards...intentionally, since I always wear my hats to the rear :)

You just cut the ears off the cap with a little fabric left around them. Then you make two slits in the top of the ball cap and push the ears through them. You can glue the ear fabric to the inside of the cap and, if you want it nice and head-friendly inside, glue felt over the stiff cap fabric. :thumbsup2

I wanted to wear some mickey bride ears through the airport on the way to Florida from the UK (i'm a bit of an attention seeker:rotfl2: ) But i can't get hold of the mickey ears here in the UK. I haven't seen anyone selling them on the UK ebay and the few that are on sale from the US want to charge me $25 postage on top of the £25 for the ears.

Has anyone got any idea how i could get them cheaper on postage or have any UK brides found them cheaper anywhere?

Otherwise i'll just have to get them when i go out there for my wedding.

Has anyone else worn them through the airport? Did you get any comments?:rotfl:

 Unbelievable!! :confused3

I thought I heard once that the top hat ears sell out sometimes -- is this inaccurate? :confused3
Yes, they do. I saw the top hat yesterday (only 1 left, wouldn't cha know) and it'd been a while since I'd seen them around. The Bride ears could be found all around, tho'. One thing -- not all stores carry the same merchandise (and I'm not just referring to the difference between the parks but from one store to another in the same park), so I would look in all of them.

Your creations are terrific! I was just thinking how wonderful it would be to have ears on my cap. I too like wearing baseball caps -- not only to keep the sun out of my eyes but to also keep the hair off the back of my neck by pulling my ponytail through the opening created by the adjustment strap. And if I'm not getting a headband headache from one pair of ears, the other one is too loose and keeps falling off:p so this is the perfect solution.

I was wondering how you handled the veil: did you affix it above or below any opening created by an adjustment strap? Would you mind sharing a pix of the back of the Bride's cap?

Thank you ever so! And congratulations :bride: :groom: ~~ Magical wishes to you!! pixiedust:

Hi! :wave2:

Unfortunately, we never thought to take a pic of the back of the bride and groom ears, and now we no longer have them. However, I can tell you that DH just removed the veil/feathery stuff/rosette as one piece from the headband and glued it to the top of the ball cap where that fabric-covered button is.

So the veil hung down from the top freely, leaving room to pull your ponytail through above the adjustable band.

:thumbsup2

Great, I'll give it a go! Thank you so much for sharing!! :earsgirl:

Like Lurklyloo says that hats are insanely easy to make. I have my two all ready to get packed and go. The baseball cap was the only possible way to get him to wear anything with mouse ears. Plus the top hat made his head look big.

I just got DH to get a cap with a Mickey figure embroidered on it so it might be pushing it to get him to try one with ears. But he's quite comfortable (read happy that he's not embarrassed by having to wear one himself) being with me in my various ears so I guess I'll take it one step at a time. Who knows, maybe when we're old and gray, he won't give a hoot and will join me! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Re-newing wedding vows a la Disney style? Now, there's an idea!

Well then why did I have such a heck of a time making mine?!?
I had to make the hats once Lurky posted them - my groom won't wear the groom ears either.
The groom ears didn't "glue" well (and we tried Duco, superglue and hotglue!) so I ended up sewing/stapling them on - and the bride ears I just cut off the headband and trimmed the fabric and sewed them on after poking the metal from the ears through the hat. And that frufru bow I cut in half since I couldn't just remove it.

I'm surprised. I also did not use the bride ears I chose a pink pair, to me that was easier. Here is a pic of the inside of mine, I had a lot of extra hat part inside to keep it on. I used a liberal amount of hot glue. Just did all 4 sides of each ear.

I didn't need any fabric underneath because it didn't bother me.

If anyone wants these but doesn't want to make them, you can send the supplies to me and I don't mind making them and helping out some other brides. Just pm me.

The top hat ears are the only mouse ears that he will wear. We are going to get them when we go in October. :goodvibes: We can not wait to wear them!

So........ now we need mickey ears...... i don't think they sell them in the Disney Stores, right? What would be our best bet? We just need the plain black ones and the cute pink ones!

Another question: Where did you all buy your "Bride & Groom" hats? I love the ones you posted, but the ones I've seen online look kind of lame.
