Bride and Prejudice

I agree. I have the A&E version on TIVO in my bedroom and I own the DVD...a little obessessed? :rolleyes1 ;)
I wasn't going to watch B&P, but with all of these great reviews, I am going to Blockbuster tomorrow!
You sound about as obsessed as I am. I taped (about 10 years ago, lol) the whole A&E miniseries and my DH accidently taped over it. I was upset so he went to A&E's website and ordered me the VHS boxed set. Saturday night when I had to get out of the bed 6 times to change the tapes (this was about 1am) I decided I needed the DVD set. I checked Amazon and the ones with the cover I like  are only available from private sellers and start at $120.00 and I'm actually thinking about spending that much to buy one. The other special edition cover is only $28.00 (and Colin looks pretty hot on it) but the other one just seems more special to me *sigh*

Anyway, I'm anxious to hear your review of "Mr. Darcy" in Bride and Prejudice.

I saw this 3 times in the theaters, and it's at the top of my Netflix queue. I can't wait!!!

I have the P&P dvds and still watch it if it comes on A&E. lol. One of my most selfless acts (seriously, it really was) was lending the dvds to my grandmother-in-law. It took months to get them back (she lives 4 hours away and visited 2x and forgot them). I tried not to hyperventilate about it and eventually they did come back. phew! That was as hard (if not harder) than when I offered to lend my Lost tapes to my mil since she wanted to start watching it. It was a heartfelt offer but I am obsessed enough to have blinding pain hitting my brain as I was making it. lol. Thankfully she declined. phew!

eta if you have never read Bridget Jones and the Edge of Reason, READ it. I don't mean see the movie, I mean read the book. It is fantastic, and the parts about Colin Firth and P&P are hysterical.

I am too selfish to loan out my P&P tapes, or my LOST tapes. I'm trying to get my friend to watch LOST, but I re-taped them for her so I wouldn't have to loan out my only copy.
I can't get the Punjabi Wedding Song out of my head.

i just got this in from blockbuster online, I will most likely watch it this weekend.

I had it in my head too! I was dancing around the house humming it to myself for the rest of the day.

I was still humming the songs especially opening number (ok, the drooling over Sayid factor was to blame)

I'm finally watching it now and loving it. I think I am going to have to buy it on DVD.

Love the No Life Without Wife bit. LOLOLOL!!!

How did I miss this thread the first time around?????

Funny, I was up till 2AM last night re-watching the A&E P&P on VHS. Then went out and bought a copy of the book. I know I read it many, many years ago, but wanted to recall the 'real' story before I see the new version. I'm not too excited based on the trailer (everyone looks kind of scruffy). Darcy looks too young, though the character is only 25-26. Bengalbelle, let me know if the DVD on the A&E version has any interesting special features.....I may just have to spring for one.

I had forgotten Bride & Prejudice was available for rent.... well, its just going on 8:30....Blockbuster is still open......yeah, and Dairy Queen is on the way....uh oh.

We saw this (finally) a few weeks ago and DH and I both LOVED IT! I laughed so hard!

Great film!

B&P is a decent movie, a happy-go-lucky movie that puts you in a good mood. Though it is far from being the best that Bollywood has put out. If you liked B&P, check out these other Bollywood movies:

Kal Ho Naa Ho (Tomorrow May Not Be)
Hum Tum (You & I)
Koi...Mil Gaya (I Found Someone)
Bunty Aur Babli (Bunty and Babli)
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (Something Is Happening)
Salaam | Namaste (Cheers | Hello)

They are primarily in Hindi, but have a good amount of English dialouge and really good song numbers.

If you rent this, make sure you check the deleted scenes. The famous P&P "are you engaged to him" scene is there.

Which reminds me, has anyone here seen the old B&W version from the 40's I think? That scene ticked me off in the movie because the aunt was like "just kidding, I want you to marry him". Bleh!

Yeah, as if Jane Austen's happy ending wasn't quite happy enough for Hollywood!
