You all have such wonderful ideas!!! And I'm a romantic at heart so I love reading about Disney weddings and seeing the pictures. MAybe one day I will have a vow renewal wedding at Disney, btt until then I'm planning for my Disneymoon in a month.

So I've see many posts about the Bride and Groom Mickey Ears.... Even seen some people around the park, but what is y'alls real opinion on them? Not sure if I really want to wear them.... DH almost bought them last visit, he thinks it's cute and like to live in the moment. Me I feel goofy in them.

Cheesy for honeymooners? Is the cute button enough?

We wore them during our Disneymoon...the pins seemed to get just as much attention, but it was fun to wear the ears. When will you ever get to again?

We loved wearing the ears! I would feel cheesy wearing ears anywhere else in the world but whenever I'm in disney I end up wearing some type of mickey ear. The bride and groom ears are the best - you can get lots of free stuff and VIP seating.

We wore small pins (the ones you trade) with Mickey and Minnie as a bride and groom. I didn't like how big the "Just Married" ones were and we put those on our backpacks. We also didn't do the ears because I'm really just not that big on attention.

I saw couples with the ears and thought they looked very cute. And I'm all for ears and the buttons. But we saw one couple at our hotel every morning that wore the ears AND buttons AND matching t-shirts declaring they were recently married. We snickered at them every time! There's cute, and then there's outright begging for attention. . .

I am looking forward to wearing the ears in May! :) I usually don't like to be the center of attention, but I think it will be fun :yay:

I'm with Liz. :confused3 My feelings were, when will you ever get to wear them again? Yeah, a little cheesy - but you're honeymooning at Disney, some would call that cheesy in itself -- so, we just went all out. Sometimes we just wore the buttons and those seemed to get us just as many congrats. People are so friendly its nice to have something to talk about. :cutie: Many people who congratulated us actually asked about our ceremony being on property and many of them were surprised by our response. A lot of people didn't even know disney did weddings-- it was nice to spread the :wizard: We actually had a lengthy discussion with one woman about it waiting in line for Thunder Mountain -- she left us wanting ways to convince her partner! :lmao: We had tees for halloween that had bride/groom, Oct 30th, and Jack from NBC on it -- as he's our at home theme. But, we only wore them once and most people didn't even notice. Our ears also helped us get a lot of pics together. Lots of friendly folk (CMs and guests) would see us struggling to take a do-it-yourself shot (or alternating taking pics of each other) and would offer to take a pic. Mickey even dragged a woman from another table (who had no idea where she was going until he jammed my camera in her hands) it was pretty funny watching him mime "Take our picture" :rotfl:

:confused3 oh man, i'm border line novella here...anyway - I think if you don't like too much attention, the buttons are the way to go...but if you want to wear them I say go for it...like Liz said, you don't have too many opportunities to prance around in a veil and sparkly ears. :dance3:

Did you all ever see the Cosby show where Cliff puts on every bad Father's Day present he's ever gotten? He ends up with a blinking belt, tie, hat and suspenders. Perhaps if I could get that stuff to say just married - I would do that... well perhaps not to that degree. :lmao:

But I'm going to be doing the bridal ears and groom hat for DF a la Lurkyloo - I bought an awesome pink bride baseball hat and I'm going to put my Minnie Bride ears through it. Rob's not opposed to the groom's top hat, but I think I'll end up doing a groom baseball hat as well. I'm just scared to cut into the hat and dis-assemble the ears.

Otherwise, we're going to have a set of probably two matching bride and groom t shirts, but we're packing other stuff as well. But as the general consensus around here is - go for it! I completely agree - do what you want! :thumbsup2

FDH is not excited about wearing the ears. I did see the thread about the new grooms hat. I went right to ebay and got the old one. We just got back from Disney and everytime we saw the new hats either on someone or on the shelf I kept telling him over and over and over again...be happy that you just have to wear the top hat and not anything else. I am looking forward to wearing the ears..hehehehe...im just nerdy I guess!:cool1:

Thanks!!! We may go for it while in the parks, but not at dinner. You convinced me to just go for it and be silly/fun.

But, new grooms hats? What do you mean?

oh, you should just go for it! this is your only change to be on your honeymoon and your fiance is all for it so why not? yes it's silly, but c'mon - it's DISNEY! it will be fun and you don't have to wear them all the time, and i think the perks and extra attention are worth it.

We arrived in Disney a week before our wedding. The first thing we did was head to Downtown Disney to get our AP, check our how many days we had left on our old park tickets and do some shopping. The CM at Guest Services in Downtown Disney was so wonderful. He helped us with everything. We were at his counter for amost 30 minutes. Just before we left he gave us two vouchers for free bride and groom ears. We went to the Christmas shop and all they had were the new style (which we did not like as much) then we went to the WOD and they had both typle. We got the old version (top hat for him and glitter headband style for me) and we wore them from then on whenever we were at Disney. MY DH's dad lives in Orlando and we spent the first few days with him so we did not really wear them there, but once we got on Disney property the ears never came off.

We wore them when we were out at different dinners with our guests, we wore them hanging out at the Scat Cat Loungs in POFQ listening to music, we wore them for our 'Ohana dinner with 14 of our other guests, we wore them to our rehearsal and rehearsal breakfast. We brought them to our reception and took pictures with them on. We even got pictures of our other guests with them on. We brought them to our MK shoot and took a few pictures with them on there also. We had them on during our free night at the GF. The only place we did not wear them was on the beach at the GF and in the pool.

Wear them and have fun with them. We got tons of congratulations, a few free desserts, a few front of the line adminssions but we did not wear them for that reason - we really enjoyed them and had fun with them and where else but at Disney can you wear ears on your honeymoon.

But, new grooms hats? What do you mean?

Disney has a new set of groom mouse ears available, but the old top hat style is also still being sold.

Here's what the new ones look like:

I still can't get over how ugly the new ones are... :lmao:

Sorry to anyone who likes them, but DF would wear pretty much anything for me, but he laughed at those and said he wouldn't wear them.

I was at WDW last week and I did not see one of the top hats on the shelves...just the gross new ones...and I also saw guys wearing the new ones...they looked rediculous! Who wants to wear a hat wearing ahat

We did not like the new ones either. We got the old style at WOD in Downtown Disney. We were just there this past Sunday and they still had them.

I made the baseball style with bride and groom on the front, our names on the back and I added the Mickey ears. We did not use these. We like the Disney ones better.

Last time I was at disney recently I couldn't find the top hats either only the new ones !

The WOD in Downtown Disney was the only store we saw the old version of the bride and groom ears the whole two weeks were were in Disney. We just got home Monday and saw the old version on Sunday there.

Everyone was asking us where we got our ears as they could only find the new version.

Linda

I too am not a fan of the new ones. :confused3 Especially the men's one. A hat wearing a hat? :rotfl2: We were able to get the old style via the bridal gift basket from disney floral. MIL sent it to our room for us, we were really glad they were using the old ones!

So now I'm convinced to wear the bride ears just to have fun, I've always wanted a pair of mickey ears, and what better first ears to have than bride ears.

I just showed the man, the new hat and he laughed and said yeah right. It looks like it is made for clowns. So unless we get his off ebay or somewhere, we won;t be wearing them. I feel kind of sad now.....

It is getting so close!!! I can't wait!

If he does not like the new groom hat and you can't get the old version, why not get a baseball hat with groom on the front and his name on the back. Even if you don't add the Mickey ears - people will know he is the groom.

Sometimes when I was out and about in my ears and Sheldon was not around I felt like a bride in search of a groom.
