Hi all. My sister in laws and myself are throwing a bridal shower for our niece this Sunday. We have thrown many showers and in fact catered some weddings so it's not like we're new at this but in the past my dh tells me I tend to do "too much". Because I am the cook in the family they asked me to decide on the menu and I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions. I keep wanting to add different things to the menu but ds in law tell me there will only be about 20 people there. Here's what we have right now:

I am (with help of my dh) are going to carve a watermelon like you would a pumpkin with a pattern. The pattern we have and done before is a silouhette of a bride and groom embracing. We gut the watermelon (I make watermelon balls with the fruit) and put a lit votive candle in the middle and then I arrange assorted fruit around it.

I'm doing a cheese tray with a crab dip ball in the middle surrounded by crackers.

We're all sharing doing:

vegetable tray

chicken salad finger sandwiches

spinach dip

eclairs

cake

iced tea and soft drinks

coffee

The shower is at 2 p.m. Is this ok or am I missing something?

I think it sounds lovely. I hope every things goes well. Keep us posted

Sounds great to me! I wouldn't prepare any more -- if you're having only 20 people attending, I think you'll have plenty to eat. The Watermelon sounds really interesting. Where in the world do you find a watermelon this time of year?! Let us know how it goes!
