I am beginning to plan my sisters bridal shower for September. Anyone know of some great games? I'm tired of the traditional word finds. My sister is very outgoing and would have fun with anything. Any other suggestions are also welcome!! Thanks in advance.

We did "How well do you know the happy couple?" game.
It was a hit! We asked questions like what is their favorite restaurant, where/how did they meet? Included some obvious, and some tricky ones that maybe only moms or grandmas would know.
Then the bride answered the questions and whoever got the most right wins!

The last bridal shower I went to we played a game where the bride comes in the room wearing a bunch of different stuff. The group has 1 minute to look her over and try to remember what she has on. She then leaves the room and takes off some things (like instead of three bracelets she leaves two on, etc.). She comes back into the room and the group has 1-2 minutes to write down everything that's different or that changed (she also had on black pants and then put on jeans when she came back in and NOBODY noticed!!). It was a lot of fun and beats wrapping someone in a toilet paper wedding dress any day.

I second the trivia game for the couple. Or, alternately, it's cute to do a version of The Newlywed Game with the couple. The audience can play along if you'd like a winner.

Nice things I've also seen are having the guests sign a photo mat for the couple to use later and passing around a small notebook for marriage advice and blessing from the guests.

To help keep guests entertained during the gift opening, we like to play bridal gift bingo. You can do this two ways--either pre-print a bunch of cards with various common shower gifts on them or have the quests each fill out a card with typical gifts then have them swap. Then, as the bride opens her gifts, the guests can keep track until someone wins. You can give prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd bingo.

watch out with this one-it was played at a shower i went to (many years ago) with not such great results  they did it as "who knows the groom best" and a separate "who knows the bride best", and had each answer a questioneer ahead of time to score the game. ummmmmm-i SKUNKED the bride on "who knows the groom best" and she was not a happy camper about it (i was'nt even thinking about it when i filled out my answers-i just used the 10 years i knew him as a basis to answer the questions and wrote down the first thing that came to mind-i scored 100%, she scored maybe 70%). so unless the bride has a good sense of humor (and no insecurites about her intended having female friends) i'de pass on it.

We love playing gift bingo. Make up bingo boards (5x5) on cardstock putting a free spot in the middle. Give all the guests a few minutes to fill in what they think the bride might receive and then they can cross off the spaces as she opens gifts. It's alot of fun to hear BINGO!

We also played a questionnaire type game. We asked 5 questions about the bride, 5 about the groom, and 5-6 about them as a couple. It was a fun way to introduce the bride/groom to people who may not know one or the other very well.

My aunt has thrown some bridal and baby showers with 80+ guests. This is one of the “games” she uses.

Upon arriving, each guest is asked to write her complete mailing address on the front of an envelope. All the envelopes are put in a basket. Whenever the gift opening part of the shower seems to have gone on for a while without a break she declares, “OK, everybody, it’s time for a prize drawing.” At this point the bride reaches into the basket and pulls out one of the envelopes. The guest whose envelope it is wins a prize.

Personally, I don’t like this game. Why? Because the envelopes will be turned over to the bride at the end. They are the envelopes for her thank you notes!

I just think it’s really tacky to dupe the guests into addressing their own thank you notes. In fact, when Aunty did this game for my (surprise) bridal and baby showers, I made a point not to use those envelopes for my thank yous. I wrote my own.

I think it's kind of tacky too, but it made me laugh. It would be funny to get an envelope in the mail that I wrote to myself! I think I would rewrite them as well anyways. Thanks for the laugh! :teeth:

I'm not a big fan of shower games, and requested not to have any at my own bridal shower.

However, the most, er, interesting game I've played at a bridal shower was where the guests were divided into small groups and given a few rolls of toilet paper. Each group had to choose one member to be the model, and the rest of the group outfitted her in a toilet paper wedding gown. The best dress got a prize.

The last shower I went to, we had a contest for which table could wrap the most hershey kisses in tulle and tied with a nice little ribbon. Hmmm. . . we were tricked into doing the favors for the wedding! Anyway, my table totally got into it and won! :thumbsup2

When I threw my best friend a shower, the game they had the most fun with was guessing items in bags. I used paper bags, but I think cloth would have been better. I put a household item in each one and the bags were passed around. The guests had to guess what was in each bag by feeling. The item they had the most trouble with was a roll of life saver candies. :)
