Hi All:

This is my first post in the crafting, cooking, scrapping thread! I'm not very creative at all, but I am looking for ideas for bridal shower favors.

I have plenty of time, since the shower isn't until March, but I thought I'd get started in the planning phase!

Thanks!:wave2:

This is something I did for my sister-in-law's baby shower a few years back. It went over great with all of the guests.

I made soap bars. They were all blue with white swirls, as we knew she was having a boy. Wrapped them in clear cello paper and tied with crinkle ribbon and each had a little baby bottle, bootie or rocking horse also tied on with the ribbon. I scented them with baby powder, green apple and lilac fragrances.

Next, to the computer...found baby clipart and made labels for soaps with clipart picture and with a fancy font "Linda's Baby Shower" and the date of the shower. Used avery return address labels.

All of the supplies can be purchased in craft stores or the internet. There are so many fragrances and colors you can do. There are also different soap molds - or just use an empty 1/2 gallon milk carton (which is what I did) and cut soap into bars.

It was quick and easy, and as I said before...all of the guests loved them!

Bubblegum Buddies-You might be able to find them at your local candy stores, but if not, you can order them online. They take two huge bubble gums, then put them together and hand decorate them with icing to look like the bride and groom, this along with a personalized ribbon would be cute, or if you bake, then you can make your own personalized cookies in shapes of wedding bells with the name of the couple and the date that they are getting married.

You could always get a type of box or container personalized and add in the bride's favorite treats or something that will go along with their wedding theme.

My mom and sister threw me a "cookie" shower when I got married. The favors were super delicious chocolate chip cookies in a cellophane bag with a tag, and each guest was asked to bring a recipe with them for their favorite food (cookie or not) to put into a recipe book for me.

For my new sister in law's shower we went with a garden theme. Got little terra cotta pots at Michael's and planted different color flowers in them. Had a few larger pots with all the colors in them as centerpieces and game prizes.

We also contemplated going with a shower theme -- either soaps or small bottles of shower gel with a tag attached that says "From Bride's Shower to Yours".

When my SIL was getting married, I offered to make homemade jelly or jam. I thought they'd be very cute with some batting and an appropriately colored cloth over the sealed lid.

Unfortunately, my MIL put the end to that thought. She didn't want anyone thinking that I was crafty, so she told me that if her family members wanted jelly, they could afford to buy it themselves.

I'd still like to do this for someone's shower, though.

For my sister's shower, we made small grapevine wreaths for everyone with different floral patterns and colors on them so people could trade for what would go better with their decor.

For my sister's Bridal Shower in June i made decopauge trinket boxes. I got a decopauge idea book from Michaels and picked a design packet and went from there. They turned out very well, and the guests loved them. They weren't hard to do just time consuming, so if you do something like this I'd recommend starting them at least 1 month ahead of the shower.

Thanks everyone! Great ideas. Keep 'em coming!

For my brother and future SIL we are having a couples' shower themed Hawaiian as they are honeymooning in Hawaii.

For the favors, I will be making a little bag from Hawaiian fabric and including a package of kona coffee(a couple bags will have a snack pack can of pineapple for those that don't drink coffee), a hawaiian shirt car air freshner, white chocolate chip macadenian nut cookie, and a small bottle of hand lotion.

Oh my, since the shower is in 4 days......guess I better start putting these together. :earseek: Wouldn't want to hurry into anything....
