Ok, got a call from Disney photography today. I thought it was just to tell me that my MK photoshoot was moved to 730 but instead she told me that the 730 spot was double booked and since the other bride booked her's first and is keeping her spot we have to move ours!

Options were to move it to 4 days after the wedding and pay extra for hair/makeup. OR choose another park if we want to keep the photoshoot before the wedding.

I'm not liking the idea of doing the shoot another day, so we're down to deciding between alternate parks. I like Animal Kingdom but we're staying at POR and it's a haul! If we did that then we would not be able to get back to POR for pictures with Randy before the wedding. Epcot would be the other park that I would consider.

The other option is to completely forgo the bridal shoot and put the money elsewhere.

Any opinions? Suggestions?

Thanks!

first of all..BOO :( You would think that MK is big enough to shoot 2 couples on the same morning...If you have your heart set on a park shoot I would bite the bullet and go for it...I personally LOVE Epcot! It's absolutely gorgeous and there are so many great locations and "looks" that it offers.

We also had to give up having our MK portraits done on the day of our VR due to the time change. We'd booked right at 12 months for the 6 a.m. slot which they *guaranteed* us even though things were switching to 7:30. Well, they proceeded to book another couple into the 7:30 slot and then they told us we had to switch days (so much for "guaranteed"). So now our MK shoot is two days before our VR and I have to pay for an additional hair appointment. :sad2:

I'm actually considering dropping the MK shoot, because so many people have had problems lately and it's too expensive to take a big risk on, but haven't made up my mind yet. Dh is reluctant to do so, since that was a big part of the reason we chose Disney for our VR, but we're going to have our ceremony in Italy at Epcot and I know we'll get beautiful shots there and not have to pay extra for them.

We were thinking of dropping the MK shoot before this but had not made up our minds yet. It was because of the time change: 1. all the pictures would be in full light which I would have liked some of but not all 2. it cuts the time between the photoshoot and the ceremony which we were planning on using to take pictures around the resort.

Still not decided yet. Going over a few PJ's to weigh the options.

Just remember that as a DFTW bride you can go back to WDW and do the shoot at a later date if you wish - say your first anniversary. A good excuse to wear your wedding dress again :thumbsup2

Would that count towards our minimum still? I'm thinking not. So really it's a BIG added expense if we do that as we'll have to spend the extra $1100 we were already counting on to meet the minimum on the day of the wedding and then again for the shoot. Plus the 2nd hair/makeup session.

Because they double booked, would having it 4 days later still count towards your minimum? I like to think that Disney would honor that because this really is their fault, but. . .

If you aren't already having them, have you thought about adding Mickey and Minnie to your celebration? I think the price for both of them is about the same as the shoot.

I think they would definitely count the shoot towards the minimum if we did it 4 days after the wedding. Just not sure of if we did it during another visit months later.

Thanks for the suggestion of adding characters, we'll have to discuss that as an option as well.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to where in Animal Kingdom are good photo sites? We've only been there once and we don't know all the nooks and crannies.

Please and thank you!

There are some beautiful spots in Asia in Anandapur and on the walking paths in the really green leafy areas of the park aslo the bridge by the Tusker House restuarant is awesome we had a shot lined up from a dock to us on the bridge reflected in the water but we were running a little late and a boat drove past disturbing the water.

wow! your pics are gorgeous!! we wanted to do AK but couldn't with the time change, although they had booked it for us as well. i really love also the decorated bus/ice cream stand on the way to everst - the colors are so beautiful....

i would lay on the pressure about the mistake in booking, for whatever reason, if you wanted to do the shoot, i would still do it and ask them to count toward the minimum. i'm sorry i didn't press it more. i wish they would make it so that if you use DPS for your events, you would get a discount on the photo shoot, because not everyone wants to see each other before the wedding and that is a pretty traditional and widely accepted american tradition that penalizing the couple for not wanting to see each other beforehand is pretty...... un-disney!

this won't help you much, but we did do ours and actually i'm really liking alot of the MK pics...

Thanks! I love our MK and AK pictures and I am soo glad we were able to do the shoots!

@TinkLoverSam: Thanks for posting pictures from your portrait session. They look beautiful.

@sambycat: you're right, they should count it in our minimum. Just not sure we want to get all dressed up again another day. Hard enough talking DF into doing it just once!!! ;)

Thanks! We did our pictures 2 days after the wedding and I thought it was great. I did have hair and makeup at 3am but we had fun in the parks and the photos are an amazing part of our wedding experience.

Just wanted to update our decision. We decided to go for the Epcot shoot since we are more familiar with the locations. As a bonus the Flower and Garden Festival will be going on!!! So we're hoping to get some shots with the lovely topiaries around the pavilions! I think this is one of those cases where it's going to work out even better than our original plan.

actually that is very cool with the EPCOT solution! getting pictures in the fairy garden or the butterfly garden would make me want to go back and do it again!!! glad you feel good about it!
