Brianna's Wish Trip Summer 2013 MAW/GKTW

Hey I just found this site and I am so glad I did.
Let me start off by introducing my self and my wish child along with the rest of the family.

My name is Emily. I am a working mom of 4 beautiful girls. I have been married to my husband for 7 years. My DH is disabled and so that poses problems for us a lot.
Lets start off about the wish child, Brianna is 7 years old. She has epilepsy. She was diagnosed in May of 2010. she began seizing in the dentist chair while getting fillings. She was taken to her doctor and the next day scheduled for an EEG which showed that Brianna was seizing every 2-5 minutes. They immeadiatly placed her on medicine which did not work at all. She is currently on two different meds which have only brought her down to a seizure every 5-10 minutes. She is currently in a drug study to see if we can control her seizures and if that doesn't work we will be implanting her with the VNS device.

Brianna also has 3 sisters, Hailey is 9, Kayla is 5 and Sophia is 15 months.

A friend of ours nominated Brianna for Make A Wish and the neurologist 2nd the nomination. We were contacted by our wish granters and they came over and sat down with us. Brianna drew a picture of her wish since her excitement causes her to seize more, Her wish was to go to Disney World and have a tea party with the Princesses. They confirmed she was approved and we are now just waiting on a date. We said we would like to go either last week of August or first week of September.

I have started planning since the wish granters walked out of my front door and I do it every second I can. I have to be organized and any help anyone can give me please let me know.

I keep hearing about a wish reveal party in everyone's posts...Brianna's never had one. Plus i sort of feel like she didn't get approved. I dunno.
We are supposed to go in like 3 months but don't know anything.

It's official our trip dates have been set. We are leaving for GKTW Sept 2nd and return home Sept 8th. Can't wait to tell Brianna and build her countdown chart!!!!

I'm a big planner too. The DIS is great for planning info. Allears is another wonderful site I use. If you need character info, Kenny the Pirate has a great site.

Some chapters don't do wish reveal parties, but if your does, it usually happens close to the trip.


Yay for dates! That is a wonderful time to go. We've been to wdw Labor Day week several times, and it has always been very UNcrowded. (the weekend itself is crazy, but you'll be missing that) It's going to be hot & humid though, so be prepared, stay hydrated, etc. Misting fans are much cheaper to buy at home. It often rains in the fall, but usually briefly in the afternoon, and it's actually a nice relief from the heat.

Yay for dates! That is a wonderful time to go. We've been to wdw Labor Day week several times, and it has always been very UNcrowded. (the weekend itself is crazy, but you'll be missing that) It's going to be hot & humid though, so be prepared, stay hydrated, etc. Misting fans are much cheaper to buy at home. I found ponchos at the store for a dollar a piece so i figured I'd do that. My hubby is finally on board with the whole planning thing. Im a lil OCD about having everything in order so I dont get surprises. Im not good with them

Thanks for all those links those will definatly come in handy. I was looking at Touringplans.com and they were giving me estimates too.. but the ones you showed me seem to be much better. That will help me while I am setting the itierary. I wont be getting the one from Make a Wish until sometime in August so I will have to do some tweaking to mine then. I just know I cant wait to go. I may be just as excited as the girls. Just not asking about it every twenty minutes.

Did they talk to you again after she made the initial wish about dates, or did they just set them for what you talked about at the initial meeting? I am just curious because we are trying to figure it out and haven't heard much from MAW since my daughter made her wish almost two weeks ago, and we are hoping to extend. Did they call you or mail you something? How did they work that out? Thanks, I am just really curious!

My best friend's daughter has epilepsy, but she isn't as bad, so I can imagine it is hard on you. I know my friend is always worried, even though her daughter has only had absence seizures lately and no clonic tonic seizures.


So happy you finally have dates!

Thanks...She has good days and bad days. But she doesn't let it stop her. And unfortunately she takes getting blood checked to the extreme. She doesn't even flinch. She averages up to 50 seizures a day and that is even on two different medications. But we might not even stay on the one medication, because it doesn't seem to be helping anyways.

So today the girls and I made the Countdown Calender for them..It starts at 80 days to go but only goes to 11. Days 10 through 1, they will get a surprise each day. Pictures will come soon.

over the weekend, Brianna got to meet her new cousin, Matthew. He is only 7lbs...Thankfully she got to hold him right before we were going to head home, due to her have a surge of seizure spells...She stopped long enough to be able to hold him and for mommy to capture the moment..

She was thrilled to hold him!!!
