I just learned Brian that drives around the fort checking on sites and troubleshooting problems passed away yesterday. Lorna, Richie, Ami and myself just talked to him last weekend in front of Ami's site while he was doing his rounds in the 2000 loop. Brian was a real friendly guy who would help anybody out. I know he'll be missed by a lot of the fiends.

Judy is supposed to send me a pic soon that I will post.

Here is a pic that Judy from site 114 sent me. Although Brian wasn't a fiend he was a friend of the fiends. He stopped by many a site and talked to people. He had some really good friends at the fort.

Thanks for taking care of all us FIENDS Brian! May you rest easy and enjoy eternity in a place much better than the Fort! R.I.P. Brother

I hate to say Brian and I didn’t start out on a good foot. But at the end we became good friends. There were many of night I went to the beach to watch wishes and miss it just talking to him. He was as most of you know was funny to screw with we would put our carts on the beach knowing he would come down telling us to move them. The fort will not be the same. And now I can park on 18 blade of grass

When Lorna and Todd called me (I missed Donnie's call), my son said, "Who is going to give me a security sticker now?" I couldn't give him an answer. It was so very sad to hear and my son is really going to miss his visits. He was a really good guy and cared about the kids.

It was sad for me to make all the phone calls when Judy told me about is

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and those who knew him.... I saw him several times on our stays, but never got to know him, but sounds like he touched many on this board, as well as the children, with his personality..... If he meant so much to all these people at the Fort, just think of how much he meant to his family.... RIP Brian.....

My money is on Judy, Hilda and Dan will miss him the most last time i saw him he came to hildasn just to make shure she was ok or need anything

We talked to him a few times on our last trip. He came through our loop alot. He was a nice guy he seemed young.

Brian inherited "Mean Gene's" truck when Gene retired. The first time I met him his name tag said "Moe". When speaking to him I told him there was no way he could be as anal as Gene was (I loved Gene BTW) and he said he was working hard to live up to Gene's legend. That's when I said, "Okay - you're "Mean Moe" then!!" Next time I saw him, his name tag said "Woody" & I told him I was NOT going to refer to him as a "Mean Woody"!! :rotfl2:At that, he came and sat down and chatted for a time. What a great guy. Whenever we were at the Fort we always made an effort to find Brian. This news is very, very sad. He was too young. Anyone know what happened?

OMG! That's so sad! He will surely be missed, he was always around to give a helping hand. Last year one of our neighbor campers had a medical emergency and Brian came by 2 or 3 times a day to talk their dog for a walk, and check on things. Seemed like a great guy!

Such sad news. I wasn't sure who you were referring to until I saw his pic. Then I remembered him. Can not believe he is gone at 51.

Wow! This is really sad news.

Brian was a wonderful castmember, and an asset to Fort Wilderness.

Like Discamper, my first dealings with Brian were when he would approach me for doing something wrong. And, we had quite a few of those encounters in the early days.

I have told the story before of how Brian once caught me red-handed driving my golf cart on the other side of the bridge by the old cabin behind the 300 loop. He asked me if I knew how many no carts beyond this point signs I passed. He was good natured about this.

Brian was also the castmember in charge of telling folks when they had too many cars on their site, or that you aren't allowed to have a roaring campfire in your grill.

If you think about it, this was a pretty tough job that Brian had.

But he did it with such genuine courtesy that you couldn't help but like the guy.

After a while, Brian and I came to an understanding, and I always looked forward to seeing him at the Fort. I actually toned down some of my antics out of respect for him

Here's a photo of Brian and good old TCD from October, 2009:

Rest in Peace, Brain.

The Fort was a better place because of you.

And, you will be sorely missed by the TCD gang.

And a lot of other folks, too.

:(
