What do you have to do to get kicked off? I must be slacking..... I've never come close.

sorry to read this. I believe I met him once he came to our site to checkout the campfire pit we had. He was very nice! RIP Brian

Please stay tuned for funeral information. I have spoken with Brian's supervisor, and she is confirming visitation/funeral time(s) and location. At this point, it looks like it will be in Lakeland, FL. As soon as I hear back from her I will come back here and confirm.

Thanks for the info Rachel. There's a lot of people are wanting to attend or send condolences. I think we're going to try and have something Labor Day Weekend at the beach. Maybe take some flowers down. Most likely Saturday.

If anyone would like to post pics of Brian....I'll print them and give them to his family....they might really appreciate them!

Oh my goodness!! That is literally 2 miles from where I work. It is a beautiful church. It's about 45-50 minutes from the Fort. Take I-4 West from the Fort to exit 33; turn left off exit (Socrum Loop Rd), go about 1/2 mile to where Socrum Loop dead ends into SR 33 - turn right (alternate name is Lakeland Hills Blvd), stay on Lakeland Hills about 3 miles and it will take you directly to Lake Morton Drive - turn left, you will see the church on the left side of the road. If you're coming from the Tampa area, take I-4 to exit 33 (the east bound and west bound exits are separate from one another) turn right off the exit - you will be on SR 33 (Lakeland Hills Blvd), stay on 33 to Lake Morton Drive - about 4 miles. Turn left on to Lake Morton Dr & the church will be on your left. The chapel can probably hold around 300-350 people. There has not been any obituary in our Lakeland Paper, "The Ledger" yet. When there is, I will post it.

The service for Brian will be Friday, Aug. 27th at 4:00 pm.
It will be held at:
The First United Methodist Church
79 Lake Morton Dr.
Lakeland, FL

For those who may be unable to attend, see above in this thread for a memorial possibly being held on the beach Labor Day weekend. Or ask a nearby Snow Bird if you are located in the campground.

Thank you all for your lovely comments on Brian. He was a wonderful person to work with...SO friendly, and always ready to assist. I will REALLY miss working with him. Rachel :o)

Hello Everyone! This is Brian's Family. We were told by a friend that there were many postings about our dad. I can not tell you how good it has made us feel to read all of the wonderful posts about him. He loved the campground and all the friends he made there. He would often tell us stories about the people he helped and the return guests that he got to know so well. He was definitely a stickler for the rules...he made sure to remind us of them whenever we were at the campground too. Please know that we would like to be included in any plans you make at the campground.

Kathy, Jenn, Amy, Brady, and Donny....and little David too!

Hi Kathy,

I know there's going to be a little group of us there Labor Day and we plan on putting some flowers on the beach in his honor. It was kind of an inside joke with Clementines Beach because he used to keep carts from parking there at the fireworks time. We would be honored to have his family down there. We thought it would be appropriate to put the flowers there.

We all will miss Brian. He helped a lot of people. Our deepest sympathy to your family on a great loss.

This is to Brian's son and his sisters...your father was a very kind hearted person when it came to peoples feelings. My name is Judy Fiest and we stay on site 114 for approx. 7-8 months a year and my son has Down Syndrome and we are the people from New Orleans that your dad came to see with a group of three other families with a total of 12 people from Florida that came to the Big Easy in April. Your dad had the time of his life and was looking forward to me bringing him some Muffalata's with me when I returned to the Fort on Sept 24th. Your dad spent a lot of time with my son Bernard and him and Little Bee and my husband Bernard went to the wrestling match in Dec. 2009 and they had such a good time. Brian was a stickler for the rules and we would bust his chops any chance we could and get him fired up. My thoughs go to what in the world am I going to do with all my left overs now that Brian is gone. I could alway count on Mikey to eat anything I didn't want to throw away and he loved our home made fudge and my husbands seafood gumbo. Brian was closer to most of us than he was to his own family and we listened to his problems and heard his complaint and was a friend when he need to vent and get some of his problems off his chest. I can guarantee your family one thing that myself (Judy) & Bernard, Hilda & Charles, John & Tina,Mike & Michelle, Dan & jennifer, Ron & Angie knew more about Brian than his own family knew and he shared his inner feeling with all of us and who know who else he felt close enough to tell his problems. May he rest in peace and have the LOVE he so despartly wanted and needed wherever he may be. I hope there is a Fort Wilderness Campground in Heaven and that Brian is keeping it straight until we meet up with him again.

I won't be able to make it to the services, we are going to New York. But my prayers are with Brian's family.
I thought it would be great if we could put flowers on the beach over Labor Day Weekend. I now see his family would love to be included. I am sure someone out there is so much better at writting something than I am. I would love to have a nice memorial (fun) for Brian, we need to have a time. Maybe we can all bring our golf carts onto the beach. Just thinking out loud, would anyone like to help me get this together??? I will be in New York starting tomorrow, and will check this thread.
RIP_ Brian
