We are thinking about going to the Brevard Zoo one day, while in Florida. Is it a pretty nice zoo and how are the prices at the restaurants? We went to the Central Florida Zoo two years ago and was not overly impressed. Personally we felt the animals were in very small exhibits. Anyway if anyone can give an opinion about BZ, it would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!

I think you will find the same at the Brevard zoo. It is not that big and if I remember from my daughters girl scouts trip it only has a 1 quick serve type dining. Both are a big drive from Orlando but the Jacksonville zoo is great and the Miami Metro Zoo is the best in the state.

But can you take a kayak to see some of the animals, a zip line to see others or a walk in the trees to see others(additional charges do apply). And instead of paying $50+ to feed the giraffes it is just $2. Lots to do at B.Z. BTW Tuesdays is $2 admission day in September.

Thanks. We are members of the Nashville Zoo so we can get in free to the Brevard Zoo. I thought feeding the giraffes would be neat. We are traveling with four 6 year olds and thought the water play area would be entertaining for the afternoon.

Wow...thanks for posting. Didn't think about doing this, but we have several extra days and these activities look right up our alley! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reminder! I always forget to do this discount with the zoos and aquariums. :confused3 We belong to Zoo Atlanta, and after checking, we get in free here too! Yay! Thanks so much...really trying to save some money and fill our spare days with things that are not just another visit to a different theme park that we've already done several times. This zoo sounds perfect for a laid back day. :goodvibes

Brevard zoo membership is on Groupon Orlando today if anyone was looking to visit!

The Brevard Zoo is a neat little zoo. It's not a metropolitan zoo by any means, but it is far and above better than the Sanford Zoo. It's got lots of hands-on type activities. The meals are just quick service, nothing special.

I don't know that I would plan to go there unless you had something else to do in the area (visit NASA or Cocoa Beach).

Absolutely a great place to visit, my grand kids love feeding the giraffes and butterfly house. Restaurant is just hot dogs....OK, not too expensive

The cool thing about Brevard Zoo...... you can walk to see animals, take the train, kayak, do the zip line or the tree top trek to see animals.....For a small zoo it is cool. They just announced a baby giraffe being born this month. When we talked with Jack Hannah when he was at Sea World this spring he even commented on how the zoo is pretty good zoo. He did his show from the zoo one time.
