As a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan and Wisconsin resident I've always loved the Packers.

Tonight's game so far is unreal though and very special.
Brett Favre's father died last night and he's not only playing in tonight's game but he's also having the game of a lifetime - over 300 yards in the first half and 4 touchdowns - all with a broken thumb and the most unbearable amount of grief imaginable. At this point there's still time left in the 3rd quarter!

Some people might think it's bizarre or inappropriate for Brett to be playing in this game but I honestly think it's amazing. It's not about his keeping his streak of starting in 204 consecutive games either. He's just a true competitor and doing what his Dad would have wanted him to do. I think he's amazing - and I usually don't gush about athletes, EVER!

My prayers are with Brett and his family over the next few days.
Go Pack! ::yes::

Mine, too. My Mom is a big Brett Fan. I called her tonight to offer my sympathies. Honestly, I feel bad for the guy and, I can't believe he's playing tonight. :(

The man is truly amazing - he knows how he feels and what he has to do. To play with his dedication and the stress of this loss, he is a very good role model for young people.

Life isn't easy but we can face our challenges.

God bless him and his family in this time of great loss and sorrow.

Rae

My prayers go out to Brett and his family.:( He was playing for his Father last night.

We are also HUGE Brett Favre fans and Packers fans. My thoughts and prayers to him and his family also. He had one of his best games and I hope he had a few minutes of great joy from that. Im sure he knows his fathers is so very proud of him as his fans are.
I lost my mother 2 months ago so I do know how he feels and its horrible. Everyone says it gets better with time. I hope so.
Anyway Brett you are the greatest football player ever!
God Bless You,
Lori

I can't stand the Packers and I really didn't want them to win last night (Vikings season ticker holder here... I wanna use my playoff tickets! :)).

But what Farve did last night was truly amazing.

As much as I hate the Packers, I've always respected Farve's talent. (Heaven knows every Vikings fan would love to have him on our side if we could) But last night's performance was amazing even for him - truly inspired.

It was nice to see him smiling on the sidelines. I'm sure a few hours away from the pain did him a lot of good, although I don't know how he was able to do what he did. What a difficult thing to have happen right before Christmas.

He was truly inspiring last night. And my condolences to him and all his family.

Brett Favre played an amazing game last night. To do that for his team with a heavy heart had to be tough. I wish the best and he will be in our prayers.

We're big packer backers too. And Brett had such an awesome game last night! To play as well as he did, under the circumstances with his father and all, is amazing. There isn't a player like Brett in the entire NFL. He is truely unique.

My thoughts and prayers are with Brett and his family.

We are Green bay fans here 2. DH was born in WI and could never give up his Packers. He yelled throughout the game last night.he was having such a good time. Its a real shame about Brett's dad, but I can understand why he played. He did an amazing job.

As a Raiders fan - i'm used to the Raiders playing so poorly. That said, Favre was awesome! And there was absolutely nothing wrong with him playing in the game. He did exactly what his dad taught him to do - what a great way to honor his father!

I tuned in at the very end of the game and found out what happened. What Brett did was a true tribute to his Father, the man who taught him the game and coached him at his start. Athletes are often driven to succeed through emotional and physical pain. Favres best game ever stands in memorial to him and his Dad.

We were talking about this last night at work...

Brett did exactly what his father would have expected him to do - to be there for his team, his commitment. And he did a great job of it.

There were some around here that said that Brett should have gone and been with his family. But I can see his Dad up in heaven saying "it's all right Brett, you play your game, we'll be here when you are done".

He did an amazing job. I'm sure his dad would agree, and approve. I understand why he did play, and think it was a good idea. What a great honor to his father. He will have plent of time to mourn now. What a hard holiday season for him. :( Condolences to him and his family!

Unfortantely I turned in way early last night and missed the awesome game. Saw the highlights when I went out for lunch today and it was unbelievable. I give Brett credit for playing last night, but I betcha his dad was right there at his side. Big GB packer fan here!

My 11 year old son has been a Packers/Favre fan for years.

(I don't know where I went wrong - LOL!)

But I have to agree that we Jet fans found last nights performance to be inspirational and amazing.

My DS said that Mr. Favre was a football coach and he wouldn't want Brett to let the team down. I thought that was pretty insightful for a 6th grader.

Brett was amazing last night. I truly beleive his father was looking down at him last night. My thoughts and prayer are with him and his family.
