Brett Favre retires (again)

I hated the way things went down last year. I was always a Favre fan, and always a Packers fan. He will be missed.

I have been a Cheesehead since 1977 including dancining on my on deck with a housefull of Broncos fans when my "boys" played them nad were ahead in the first queartr in the Super Bowl. IMO, he should have quit two years ago...when he was on top. I find it so very sad that "old" (Ha!) players of any sport can't leave. It's just embarassing for such a great player! And I am a total fan of his!

Brett Favre by all accounts is a great guy...So what if he made a mistake by coming back..It doesnt mean he is a jerk or self centered. You are right there are plenty of players that are just that, but there are a few that are good guys....

Refusing the be in the locker room with teammates before and after games makes him a great guy? He certainly is not a good team-mate by most accounts, especially over the past few seasons.

I love the NFL - have had Bills season tickets for years and years, but I have to agree. We idolize sports figures and other celebrities way beyond their contribtion to society. Having said that, Brett, it's about time!

Where have we heard this before? Same story...different year. Are we going to see the tears again?

He's only doing this to get out of playing w/ the Jets. He already asked for an unconditional release. Just wants to play w/ someone else. I give him until training camp gets going. He'll say he wants to come back - AGAIN! What a drama king.

I couldn't care less about the Packers, but Brett Favre used to be one of my favorite players ever. I loved his attitude in the game, his energy, his enthusiasm. However...

I got sick of the years of "Will he or won't he retire" crap, every...single...year. Then he retired, thank you, miss you, see you at the Hall of Fame in five years. Then he un-retired, and of course wouldn't be back with the Packers, since they named a replacement and drafted TWO quarterbacks on top of that. So he forced a trade (reminds me a lot of Junior Seau, who I dislike now for the same type of behavior). <yawn>

Now he's retired again. Yipee. Don't care. Hope he's gone for good this time. Will be changing the channel for a while in the future anytime I see him or anything about him. If he comes back and goes to yet another team, I might consider putting him into the rarefied Mike Tyson territory, where I disregard him and everything about him until the day I die.
