Breastfeeding?

I think the only time we have noticed someone BFing was the time a woman was sitting on a bench with BOTH breasts on display while the baby nursed from one of them. My niece noticed and exclaimed to me lol She was very happy that no one could tell when I nursed my DD during that same trip.

:lmao: I've never seen something like that, but I wouldn't know what to think either. Maybe she was a foreigner? LOL Or an exhausted mom who just didn't care anymore. "Here! Have at 'em!"

like everyone else has said just find a quiet place off to the side in any of the parks and you should be good. never got any bad looks from anyone just smiles from some moms which was nice and comforting for me since it was my first child to be doing this at the parks with i was quite nervous. he was 9 months at the time so he was able to go a little longer between feedings which helped also.
funny story i have about one incident though..we were eating at O'hana for dinner. he wasn't quite having it that night was a little fussy. my husband took him out to feed him some baby food by the bar area since he was getting restless at the table. he ate the whole big jar but wanted more. we had an awesome table at the front of the restaurant by the windows for the fireworks too. he came back with him still fussing and hungry so i am like ok i'll feed him and thankfully i had my cover up. well i wasn't paying attention to the time and i had my back to the window and just as i put him on...the lights dim and everyone in the restaurant turns their chairs to watch the fireworks. now i know they weren't looking at me. the fireworks are the main attraction but it was still very embarrassing for me because it was towards the beginning of our trip and i was still getting used to bf in a very large public place. but i just acted normal and went with it and it kinda helped me get more comfortable doing it around the parks more.
the baby centers do have nursing rooms but i never was close to use them. plenty of places to do it between rides and shows ;) have fun!

I would have felt just like you. :) I remember my first time nursing in public....trying to do it in the bathroom. I said never again. So I tried feeding her in the restaurant. I felt like every eye in the house was on me, which of course wasn't true. I can't imagine having the fireworks as my backdrop. heehee

As others have mentioned, there are some quiet places to nurse that will end up being not so out-of-the-way. I once started nursing on the dark part of Living with the Land. Since it was dark and it's a ride where everyone is facing forward, I decided not to bother with my nursing cover. My shirt covered everything important, but it's just not quite as modest as I usually nurse. Anyway, when the boat went out into the greenhouse portion, there was a Behind the Seeds tour group walking right next to the boat. I was covered *enough* (I always keep in mind that the rides are monitored by video), but I would have prepared differently if I'd thought about that possibility.

I can't tell if this is in jest?

Babies can ride any ride without a posted height requirement. At 8 months, DD rode Dumbo, Spaceship Earth, Pirates, Buzz Lightyear, The Living Seas w/Nemo, Kilimanjaro Safaris, etc...

That's not including the shows like Monster's Inc Laugh Floor, Enchanted Tales w/Belle, MuppetVision3D, and TurtleTalk with Crush that she went to as well.

We'll then you're not very intuitive . Of course it was in jest...height restrictions for babies? Doesn't that sound silly :scratchin ? I'm in favor of baby's and nursing mothers!

I wasn't trying to be snarky, I honestly couldn't tell. Tone doesn't always transmit well over the internet  sorry about that

I didn't pay attention last time we went because I wasn't nursing then, but are there many mothers who breastfeed in the park/restaurants? I know there are baby stations, and that's great if I'm near one. But if not, I have a cover and am quite used to nursing in public for the most part. Just wondered how many other nursing moms I will see there.

I don't notice a lot of nursing, but I see a lot of babies, which probably means there are lots of quiet, out of the way places, and lots of moms who are pros about getting it done without a big production!

I've been to the world just twice now. Last year I didn't notice anyone BFing but this year the woman in front of us was at the lights motor action show in HS. I have to say I felt a little uncomfortable as I have never been anywhere (public or private) where people have been BFing but it didn't bother me and I understand it's just natural. The lady looked a little hassled and her little one was being very fidgety and fussy.

Tbh, the child next to them bothered me more than the BFing mom did, he kept standing on the bench so I couldn't see! Lol

During our August trip, I actually saw one of the weirdest and funniest things I have ever seen. A mom was breast feeding a baby ( maybe 6 mths old) while walking out of MK. Odd, right? Well, then I guess they decide they need to catch a bus so the whole family ( dad and another kid in a stroller) starts running/ jogging. She was running and breastfeeding! And not just a few steps but down the end of main St and out to the buses. Such an odd sight.

I hope that child didn't have teeth yet, that's all I can say and I bow to the mother...she's awesome!

We took our baby last year and I nursed at various places throughout the parks. I fully intended to use those infamous baby stations, but they were never close by when I needed them, so I never even went in a single one of them. Honestly, if you're discreet, most people won't even notice, and if they do, won't care. If you're comfortable nursing in other public places (restaurants, etc.), than Disney won't be a problem.

One tip - I often went into a show or longer dark ride so I could be in the a/c while nursing. Depending on when you're going, sitting on a bench, holding a baby, and wearing a nursing cover could get really hot! Have a great trip!

Carousel of Progress would be one, too. I saw a lady Bf-ing in there. Once they are latched on they are nearly done by the end, even if not, you're still good.

Quite honestly, I have never noticed a woman breastfeeding at Disney World. And I've made over sixty trips of varying length so I''ll say I've spent about 300 days in the parks.

Now, that's not to say there's no breastfeeding going on - I just never noticed and I'm usually the one that notices everything. So to the OP -do your normal thing and don't worry about it.

Yes, this is definitely an American insecurity. Who knows why. Other countries wouldn't bat an eyelash. I don't necessarily notice. If I do, I don't give it a second thought, but that's me. Been there, done that!

Just want to say that the greatest place to breastfeed at WDW is the TTA (People Mover). I breastfed all three of mine on it. There's never any wait (well, almost never) and you can have privacy - a car to yourself and sometimes a few cars between you and the next person. You can put your feet up. You swoosh around with the nice wind in your face, entertained by the view. The CMs will let you stay on as many loops as you need to finish feeding, and the motion of the cars usually puts the little one to sleep as he/she finishes. Lovely memories for me.

Good idea...we say a momma on there with her latched on infant. She nearly fell asleep, too! It is very relaxing.

Sometimes you just have to whip it out. No lie. I had to do it with DD in Walmart of all places. She was wailing. I grabbed her tossed one of those little flannelette receiving blankets on top of her and latched her on. What are you going to do? I tended to wear loose shirts anyway, just for that reason. That is the only thing those little blankets are good for anyway! LOL. She was a 90 minute drinker. Every 90 minutes. My contractions from start to finish were every 90 seconds. I should've named her ninety! There's lots of out of the way places at the World. Epcot has some lovely areas near France.

You'll be fine. Find a corner..there's lots of them! Good luck!

I took both my kids when they were still bfing...I do it walking around (you can invest in a good baby carrier like an ergo and it covers them too!), I've gone in the baby centers, and I do it on the longer rides. Haunted Mansion, for instance, is a nice long ride that should give you plenty of time to finish unless you have a marathon nurser. :rotfl2:

Space ship earth is great to bf on too. :thumbsup2

I have never had a cast member say anything to me and if they did, I would remind them of the laws protecting bfing moms. :thumbsup2

I breasted multiple children over many visits to Disney World. Usually, I used the baby care centers. But, if I couldn't get to one and did it elsewhere, no one said anything to me about it, except one time.

I was at Hollywood Studios. I attempted to use the baby care center to nurse, but both rooms were full. So, I went to a bench around the corner and started nursing with a nursing cover. A cast member saw me and told me that I should go into the baby care center. I told him that the rooms were full. Then, he suggested that I go to first aid. I told him we were fine where we were.

I was really surprised by his comments. I was completely covered and kind of out of the way. He was an older man. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. But, he did not want me to breastfeed there.

Still, that was only one incident after many visits without any problems. I don't think I've heard of anyone else having a problem.

I've breast fed on all the dark rides due to a particularly demanding nurseling!

It's easy if you wear a shirt with a neckline you can pull down for access no buttons to fumble with and are good at baby head placement lol. If not having some kind of cover even a small blanket does the trick and with having just your shirt neckline pulled down covering up quickly is easy!
