Breastfeeding?

I didn't pay attention last time we went because I wasn't nursing then, but are there many mothers who breastfeed in the park/restaurants? I know there are baby stations, and that's great if I'm near one. But if not, I have a cover and am quite used to nursing in public for the most part. Just wondered how many other nursing moms I will see there.

It depends on how much you are looking for them. They are around and for the most part very unnoticeable. Some are more obvious than others and some guests are more vocal about their distaste for BFing than others. I'd just go about your normal way of BFing and not worry about other guests.

There are lots of nursing mums feeding baby as and when their infant needs feeding, :)

It's one of these situations where it's not a big deal, and everyone carries on with their own thing. Have seen mums with lovely coverups (wish they'd had them when my kid was tiny and was bf'ing) while waiting in line, on some attractions, during dining, or sat on a bench in the shade.

Enjoy your trip with your little one. x

Agree with Delmar...I've seen plenty of moms breastfeeding and I didn't see anyone having an issue with it. If you want to be more discreet there are places that are less congested or that people don't walk by as often in every park.

Hi. I breastfed my 4 month old all around the parks for 2 weeks and never had any problems or raised eyebrows! I was careful not to flash too much flesh but fed in lines, on rides, in shows, in restaurants and on plenty of benches. I didn't notice anyone else breastfeeding that I can remember but I guess that, unless you have your whole breast hanging out, there are too many other exciting things for people to be looking at ;)

I have seen several over the years. Most women have been on benches in the shade.

I'm currently a breast feeding local mom that visits the parks frequently. So you may see me :)

Disney supports breast feeding so the Cast Members are very accommodating and can offer suggestions on quiet corners/spots.

I've seen it a few times at Disney, but I'm not very observant and I'm sure it happens a lot. Not a big deal as far as I'm concerned.

Has anyone ever seen a CM do it? Especially one in costume/character?

A CM would never breastfeed "onstage". Ever. They're in character when they're working, and they're not allowed to break character.

Any nursing that would happen during working hours, would happen backstage, where the only people to see it would be other CMs.

During our August trip, I actually saw one of the weirdest and funniest things I have ever seen. A mom was breast feeding a baby ( maybe 6 mths old) while walking out of MK. Odd, right? Well, then I guess they decide they need to catch a bus so the whole family ( dad and another kid in a stroller) starts running/ jogging. She was running and breastfeeding! And not just a few steps but down the end of main St and out to the buses. Such an odd sight.

Let me start by saying I'm not the type of guy who thinks breastfeeding an infant in public is weird. I'm fine with it.

But I guess what I don't understand is why you'd even bring an infant who is breastfeeding to Disney to begin with. Aren't they too young to understand and comprehend where they are and what they are seeing?

My wife normally finds a quite bench to feed our son our third child. Not for lack of accommodation but more so my Son will stay on task, the noise in dining areas can cause some distractions.

She has never had a problem finding a good quite place to breastfeed,

Generally because the rest of the family wants to go. And honestly, infants are often much easier to manage than toddlers. I took my infant all the same places I went before I had kids. It wasn't until he was walking that we started to change our plans around him. And of course if you have older kids, it may just work for you.

Thanks all. I knew Disney would probably be good about it. Berlioz, I'll be there for ten days so maybe I will catch you there! :) Cygnus, I breastfed my other girl for a couple years so that would mean no Disney for me for another year! :) DH and I enjoy Disney for ourselves, and we also have a four year old who loves it so we figured it was time for another trip. I know the baby will enjoy it, even if she doesn't remember any of it. It's something pleasant to do as a family.

We took our baby last year and I nursed at various places throughout the parks. I fully intended to use those infamous baby stations, but they were never close by when I needed them, so I never even went in a single one of them. Honestly, if you're discreet, most people won't even notice, and if they do, won't care. If you're comfortable nursing in other public places (restaurants, etc.), than Disney won't be a problem.

One tip - I often went into a show or longer dark ride so I could be in the a/c while nursing. Depending on when you're going, sitting on a bench, holding a baby, and wearing a nursing cover could get really hot! Ideas - Hall of Presidents, Enchanted Tiki Room, Mickey's Philharmagic, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo Musical, movie in France at world showcase, etc.

Have a great trip!

Who says Disney's for the baby?

Mom wants to go to Disney. The baby gets to come along.

After all, when you're nursing, it's not terribly workable to leave the baby with a sitter for a week.

Wonderful nursing locale ideas! I hadn't even thought about the Hall of Presidents!

Who says it has to be about the infant? The parents can derive joy from seeing their infant at Disney, getting pictures with characters, etc.
