Breastfeeding & the Parks

Have a wonderful trip. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get home! (but don't think about getting home just now!) :lmao:

Maybe I should do a nursing toddler trip report! :cool1: I could post it on both boards! Gotta get motivated to keep up a daily journal. That would probably help me alot with scrapbooking too!

All of you are awesome! Maybe I am making nursing in public a big issue and it's really not. I'm going to invest in hotsling and in a solarveil so I should be good. :goodvibes

In some places, in some parts of the county, with some people, THEY make it a big deal. It is one of the most natural things you can do and should be applauded!

And I love, love, love my solarveil sling!!! I bought the material and had a friend make me a sling and one of the best things I ever did was bought 2 extra yards and hemmed them into blankets. When we are in the parks, I will use them as covers for the boys when they are napping. Or added protection/shade in the stroller.

Well, we are still going, so if you see someone nursing a 2 year old! in the parks in a few weeks, say hi to me!! :goodvibes

Good for you still nursing your toddler!!! I nursed all of mine until they weaned themselves. I think it is wonderful! My son nursed until he was just two, Arminda was 2 and 4 months, and Lydia was just about three. Althuogh, Lydia stopped for 2 weeks when she turned 2 1/2, but then started up again for a few months. I'm just always very happy when I see other mothers nursing those babies and toddlers! :yay:

I think it is hard for some people to get started. I have a friend that is just too worried about what others will think to nurse in public. I was a little shy at first, but one day I was going to go sit in the car and nurse (in hot GA weather), when I noticed a woman feeding her baby a bottle. I thought how ridiculous it was that I felt the need to get out of the public eye, when I was just doing what I felt was best for my baby. I have nursed in public ever since, and I have never had anyone say anything to me.

Americans are the only ones that get their bras in a twist over a nursing mom I would imagine nursing is more the norm

You almost made my tea come out my nose when I read that line! Too funny!:rotfl2:

When Lydia was a baby, I lost my coverup, so I once just sat down in line waiting for the Playhouse Disney show and nursed her there. No one said anythign. I really dont' think anyone had a clue what I was doing!

I didn't read all the other posts, so this may have been mentioned already, just make sure to keep yourself well-hydrated, too! Baby may need to nurse more in the heat and you'll need more fluid too. You might invest in a nice filtered water bottle with a carry strap (you'll want the filter - WDW water has a weird taste).

Have a great trip!

I cant find the filtered water bottles anymore!! I heard ebay had them, but that would be a last resort for me. Any suggestions on where to find them now?

This article lists several different brands and compares their features (includes the vendor websites).

They have shirts and dresses with discreet nursing openings that worked wonderfully for us, even without throwing a blanket over. Check it out at their website. http://www.motherwear.com
The tops worked great with a sling.

Congratulations and good luck.

I loved the shirts from here. I made nursing in public a lot easier.

I did not read all the responses, but we just returned from a 7 day stay in Disney and I nursed my 2yo EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE she wanted. No one even batted an eye at me. The hardest part was just finding a place to sit down and do it, lol.
