We are leaving next month for Disney. Our new DS will be 8 weeks old. I am breastfeeding him. I don't mind breastfeeding him in public (I have a nursing cover).

I don't want to have to go to the babycare center every time he needs to eat. Do you think it is wrong to find a quiet bench/spot and breastfeed him (using the cover) in the parks?

you can BF him anyplace you like w/ or w/o a nursing cover. Why would it be wrong to do that?

I didn't think it was wrong...but recently I had a woman tell me that "you should go in the bathroom and do that". It made me really upset because I don't think she'd take her lunch and eat it in the bathroom.

I just want to avoid things that put me in a bad mood when I'm on vacation. :)

Ah I see now! Gotta love those that act like you are doing something wrong! :sad2:

I've seen tons of BF'ing momma at WDW and never seen anyone (CM or visitor) approach them to say anything. I'm sure it's happened but like many other unpleasant things in life it seems it happens less at WDW.

(and no I'm not staring I promise! LOL Just spent many an hour waiting with my youngest while everyone else was on rides)

Don't stress over it and enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Nope no problem. Of course becuase of the society we live in you will probbaly get some strange looks. But those people aren't worth the time.

Absolutely feed your baby whenever/where ever you like. I have breastfed for over 5 years (not all the same baby ;) ) and have only had a nasty comment or look a handful of times. (So I think the likelihood you'll be bombarded with negativity while enjoying your vacation is slim.) You are allowed to bf in public by law, so be comfortable and confident and don't worry about those who may not agree with it.

I may also suggest that you try feeding in a sling or front carrier before you leave. If you are comfortable with it that may be a nice option if he wants to nurse while you are walking around/ on rides/ etc. Two of my babies were permanently attached for several months, so if I were at Disney I would have been trapped on a bench for most of the trip.

No it's definitely not wrong. Breastfeed your baby whereever you are, whenever he's hungry :). I only use baby care centers when they are convenient to where I am at the time, or when it's hot and I want some place cool and quiet. I don't use a nursing cover. I wear a tank top under my shirt so that I'll have maximum belly flab coverage. As far as breast coverage, someone would need to be sitting very close to me and staring right at me to see anything.

Have a great time!

Like the OP said, you can BF whenever and where ever you want and no one has the right to say anything about it. It's all about what your comforable with.

We'll be finding quiet corners and benches to bottle feed our DD next week - your plan is no different than ours - finding a quiet place to feed your baby. Enjoy your trip and your new LO!

I had a lady tell me the same thing when my DD's were babies. I told her that if she would take her lunch & eat it in the bathroom, then I would make my baby eat her's there too!

OP-you have every right to BF your baby anywhere you want to without being bothered. There are several rides (TTA is the best) that are quiet & calm, great for taking a break with your little one. Have a great trip & don't worry about the busybodies.

IMO when you find a nice place make sure your near or in an AC building so you and your little one can cool off also.

You should breastfeed wherever you need to. The baby care centers may be more comfortable for you because of the heat, but they are not always convenient.

Have a fun trip and congrats on your new baby!

Absolutely nurse your baby wherever and whenever you want to. Personally, I love seeing nursing babies! :)

We are going to WDW with our 4 month old in 9 days, and we will be doing the same.

Have fun!

We live near Disneyland and visited often when the kids were little and we were nursing. Most of the time no one even noticed. If they do so what? As far as breast exposure goes I see more ****s hanging out of tank tops than I ever see with breast feeding babies. By the way the train ride at MK is nice. Enjoy your trip!:yay:

Breastfeed whenever and wherever you would like with or without a cover.

Next time some idiot tells you to do it in a bathroom tell them to take their dinner to the bathroom.

This is a hot button issue for me so I will stop before I get too angry

I agree w/ the others. Definitely feed your baby wherever you are comfortable doing so! And I would probably nix the cover as long as you're comfortable nursing w/out one. You can be very discreet w/out a cover as well. It's hot enough already w/out an extra cover on you and the baby!

A nice place to do it is right on the other side of Club Cool (if you are coming from Space Ship Earth side of things). If it's a nice day, you can sit on the benches outside or you can walk into an indoor area that has benches too. During Flower & Garden they always have things going on there and I think they do a meet and greet there too, but there are benches and it's quieter than a lot of places.

I am currently nursing #3. With 1 & 2 I don't remember ever getting any comments. We took #3 in August when he was 5 months. I was sitting at the exit to Test Track and the baby got fussy so I started nursing him. An older lady was sitting next to me and said "use the blanket, you'll be more comfortable". I just looked at her and said "I'm fine, thank you" and sat down next to her. :rotfl:

How silly of you... I thought everyone knew how comfortable it is to be covered in a blanket in August in FL...

Sounds like the lady who told me my baby was crying because he was cold since he wasn't wearing socks (in the summer). No, he was hungry and I was trying to find a place to feed him. grrr.

Agree with pp, BF wherever and whenever your baby needs. I wouldn't bother with a cover, but if you want more "coverage", you could wear a nursing tank under your shirt -that way your belly stays covered (this is often what I do, as I am a bit self-conscious about my "baby belly", lol).

I see we will be there at the same time next month, and I will be nursing my 9-week old then. We'll be sisters-in-arms (or would that be breasts? hee hee). Enjoy your trip!
