Breastfeeding at MK

Breasts are not genitalia. Don't be crude.

Not to mention the fact that Florida law doesn't provide specific protection about peeing and/or exposing genitalia in public. On the other hand, section 383.015 of the Florida Statutes says THIS about breastfeeding:

383.015 Breastfeeding.—The breastfeeding of a baby is an important and basic act of nurture which must be encouraged in the interests of maternal and child health and family values, and in furtherance of this goal:
(1) A mother may breastfeed her baby in any location, public or private, where the mother is otherwise authorized to be, irrespective of whether the nipple of the mother’s breast is uncovered during or incidental to the breastfeeding.
(2) A facility lawfully providing maternity services or newborn infant care may use the designation “baby-friendly” if it establishes a breastfeeding policy in accordance with s. 383.016.

I'm not saying people need to trek to some place far away. But if you don't have bottles with you, and you need to feed a baby, the polite thing to do is to cover up. Especially in a family place like Disney.

I feel like a family place is the exact place that breastfeeding should be normal. Well, every place, really. And my babies refused bottles.

The polite thing to do is ignore a Breastfeeding mother. Or better yet, give her an encouraging smile because she is taking care of baby's needs in the best possible way she can. Otherwise rude people like you get our spirits down. And disney is a perfect place for it, BECAUSE it's a family place.

You are so way off-base in your reasoning. Of course a nursing mother would not carry bottles with her; that would be ridiculous. MOM is present to feed the baby. Why in the world would she pack bottles, which need to be kept cold, are heavy to carry, and need to be warmed before feeding, when she can just nurse? The idea is absurd. It is completely appropriate to feed your child in the safest and healthiest way while in a "family place like Disney."

I know I'm outnumbered by the mom contingent that only sees miracle of life, so it's fine.

It's just a fun double standard.

Good for you for knowing the law and standing your ground. it shocks me that in this day and age people can still be so unknowledgeable and immature about something as basic as breastfeeding. LOL at the idea that a mother feeding her child is not appropriate for "a family place like Disney".

The 'mom contingient'? I can't share my husband's opinion of your views on breastfeeding, because it would get me points. He did say something about crawling back into your cave, but I pointed out that cavemen were more enlightened on this issue.

To the OP, I'm glad Disney management came through for you, and your wife was able to finish nursing in peace. I nursed my two over 17 years ago, in Canada, in every public venue you can imagine. And I nursed them up to 15 months each. I never bothered with a cover, preferring to just shove the tyke up under my t-shirt, and no one ever hassled me. Even better, a few times people even stopped to say something encouraging. I hope these two cast members aren't representative of Florida today, and the rest of your trip is hassle-free. :)

I had to distract my dad when he was staring at a european woman breastfeeding on a park bus one trip. Smiling at her might get a little creepy. At least for us men.

I'm definitely not of the mom contingent. Never had kids, never wanted them. My baby has four legs and barks. I'm pretty non-maternal. But I do know one thing, babies need to eat, and breast feeding is a natural thing to do. I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape about this.:sad2: I'm all for being discreet about it, and the OPs wife sounded like she was. She also has a right to do it. I'm sure this thread will be locked or pulled soon enough.

Ha! True, no ogling or prolonged grins.
