So we met some friends at MK today. My wife is still breastfeeding. Well the baby was hungry and we were no where near the baby center so we found a discreet spot and she fed the baby. All of a sudden a cast member runs over to us and says we can't do that and we must use the baby center. He was an older gentleman who may not be aware or Florida laws. I informed him that my wife can breastfeed her wherever she likes. He calls for a supervisor who informs us we must go to the baby care center. So finally a lady in business attire who must be some sort of manager calls over the 2 employees and they leave. The lady comes over and apologizes. I informed her it was not right what they did to us and they should really educate their staff. She gave us these vouchers to get something to eat and drink and several fast passes. She told us if this ever happens again to ask for a manager. I have a feeling a visitor complained to the first cast member.

Oh WOW. That is unbelievable. I'm not one to immediately call harassment, but in this situation that definitely feels like harassment and ignorance.

Unfortunate that the first TWO CMs that spoke to you had bad info.

Exactly and one was a supervisor. We brush it off and don't let it get to us. It's not the first time this has happened but the first time in disney. Usually my wife will fully cover up but it was so hot. Instead she put a large sunbathing on the baby which covered almost everything.

It's unfortunate that Disney creates special places for this, yet people still feel the need to do it out in the open. I know this is a controversial topic, but you can keep your miracle of life to yourself thanks.

I'm assuming it was out in the open though. If you are one of the decent people with the large shield things to keep covered up, then I have no issues.

Hoo boy, sometimes it is a trip back to early 1900s America! Glad to hear they quickly got smart and made amends.

Good for you and your wife for standing your ground!!! No need to go to a "special" place to feed your baby. God, this issue drives me insane!!!!! Feed your baby wherever the heck it makes the most sense and don't let people with weird, sexual hangups make you uncomfortable. Women's breasts were designed to feed babies. Period.

Nothing was showing except for the top of the breast which is like wearing a bikini. You obviously do not know much about breast feeding laws in Florida. She does not have to cover up at all and can go wherever she likes to breastfeed. Does it bother you seeing a mother breast feeding?

I am glad that they let you know THEY were in the wrong and tried to correct it!

I won't even start with the "cover the baby" stuff mentioned above. Because it's NOT already 90+ in the shade in Florida in July. If you have an "issue" with it, perhaps you can find a cover for yourself so you aren't offended!

Or, how about, "just don't look."

I'm guessing you've never breastfed a squirmy infant under a cover in the heat? It's miserable for the baby, who then squirmed and draws more attention.

Also? They are breasts, doing what they were made for. Not something to get up in arms over. I've always been "decent" and seldom used a cover, it is possible .but if my infant was hungry I wouldn't be tracking to the "proper" baby care center every time. Waste of time and unnecessary.

It's not a "weird sexual hang up". By your logic, I should be able to whip it out and pee against any tree or bush in the magic kingdom because it's "natural".
The sanitary implications of unconstrained urination versus breast feeding are completely different. I'm surprised you can't tell the difference.
Unfortunately in modern society, sometimes you need to consider that other people don't want to see your business.
Fortunately, in modern society, lawmakers recognize the benefits and rights associated with proper infant nutrition. You don't want to see it, just don't look.

Most of us draw a line between consumption and elimination. Both bodily functions, true, but there's a subtle difference.

Umm. So if you could just forget your plans and cross the park every 1.5 hours to visit the baby center that may or may not have space for you---that would make ME, a grown adult with coping skills, much more comfortable for the 15 seconds it takes for me to walk past you. Either that, or let your baby cry it out (hunger goes away eventually!) or just wrap the 2 of you in a huge blanket and sweat like pigs because that's how we all prefer to eat.

You have got to be kidding.

Well, no. Peeing and eating are not the same. But by your logic, you should only be able to eat in one designated place in the park, regardless of how convenient it is for you to get there. Every 2-3 hours. And wait your turn until that spot has room for you. Or, eat wherever you want but you must do it under a blanket in the 90 degree heat. Or, you know, maybe you should just go eat in the restroom, since that is a popular suggestion.

OP, so glad you and your wife stood your ground. I nursed both my kids all over all of the parks with - gasp - no cover, and expected issues but didn't have any. And for the record in case anyone is curious, far less of my chest showed than what you would see in the average bikini. A tummy roll, maybe .

Edit: the quote didn't show, but I think it's obvious what I am referring to.

I'm not saying people need to trek to some place far away. But if you don't have bottles with you, and you need to feed a baby, the polite thing to do is to cover up. Especially in a family place like Disney.
