Hi everyone,
I searched the boards, but did not find an answer to my question. On my cruise next month I will be nursing my 8 month old. Unfortunately, I am very prone to getting seasick. Is there anything that I can take? Anyone have any experience dealing with this? I am so worried I will be sick and not be able to do anything about it! Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I wouldn't do any "chemical" sort of motion sickness options (Bonine, Dramamine, Scopolamine patch, etc).

But there are other "natural" things that people use. Ginger (tablets, ginger ale, ginger gum), peppermint and black horehound are herbs commonly used for nausea, vomiting and upset stomachs, green apples, sea bands are helpful to many people. Be sure to have a discussion with your doctor (as well as the pediatrician) as to what is acceptable to use.

Being sure you have view of the horizon also helps (not an inside room). And fresh air.

I'd get Seabands. And call your pediatrician. S/he may have suggestions.

When we did our first, 3-night cruise the only time I could feel the ship moving was when I was barefooted in the bathroom. Other than that I had no indication we were moving and I am a motion sickness person. My DH gets car sick anytime he is not driving. He wore Seabands and felt fine except in the shower when he took the bands off.

HTH. ❤

I would use the natural remedies before anything else. But then the only time I've ever been nauseated on the ocean was when I was about 1.5 weeks post conception so it probably wasn't the sea (though we had come out of the inside passage that night). And it went away after I threw up.

But! I trust the info compiled on kellymom over any one doctor, so I found a list of approved drugs for you from that trusted source. Transdermal scope is on that list.

I am prone to seasickness and have also breastfed onboard. Ginger alert drink and ginger chews. Kiddos never have an issue - just me.

My dr just told me yesterday that gravel makes a special brand safe for pregnancy. I'd also give the sea bands a go!

Btw, breast feeding onboard was so easy! A really friendly setting! And the rocking of the waves made my four month old sleep through the nights (12 hours!)
