Breast feeding in public... gross or okay?

It is argued so people will realize breastfeeding is a normal expected way to feed a baby. You can think anything you want, but you cannot harass a mother for feeding her baby in public. It's not anything but feeding a baby.

I just find it hysterically funny that women get offended by this when they are the ones who put those things out on display, trying to get attention, every day. They want to pick and choose when a man "notices" them?

You are such a wise person! I had a friend at work who went to one of those indoor water parks. She was telling me how earlier in the day a guy would look at her every so often and she was wishing he would stop. Then later in the convo she told me how this "hot" guy was checking her out and she would hope he would come over and talk to her.

I said wait a minute....Whats the difference between what the 1st guy was doing and the hot guy was doing? She said well the 1st guy just wasnt all that good looking. She said I dont mind hot guys checking me out. I said sooo you wear a skimpy bikini but only hot guys are allowed to "check you out"? At this point she knew where I was going with this...and simply said her customary..."dont you have some place to be"?

Deleted my pp, because this isn't worth it. After reading the rest of the *other* thread, and some others around these boards, there is no way that you are for real. And I'm too tired from being a good mother to my 3 sick kids this week to worry about some bored poster's games.

I think I'm through here. When some large breasted woman removes her shirt to bf her 4 yr old, I'll make note of it, and I'm sure I'll be grossed out. I just hope some of you realize that this is not the norm, and that you are probably around breastfeeding mothers more than you think. Most of us are just so discrete you'll never notice it.

I bf'd all three of my kids. I'm a huge advocate of the benefits. It was a beautiful thing for me. And for my DH. Privately. Never bf'd them in public. Always found a private spot somewhere. No, not a bathroom. Ick!

Because I find it tacky when I see others doing it in public.

Yes, it's a natural and beautiful thing. So is the intimacy you share with your SO. But I don't want to see that in public either. But some do. And that's your right.

I can't help what I am grossed out by. I just am. Not embarrassed by it, just kinda grossed out by it.

Don't want to see my sister do it, nor my DIL in the future.

Neither side can win in this argument because no one can control what someone else might find "gross."

You can certainly consider anything gross. I think that the point is that the more it's seen and accepted the less likely people are to find it gross. I get that. I'm not sure it will work but I understand the reasoning.

I have my own thoughts but that's all I'll say!
