I am getting my pair in September. I had breast cancer and had immediate reconstruction using my own muscle from my stomach. (free tummy tuck) But the chemo caused the tissue to die and they had to remove most of it. I thought I could live with being much smaller so I had the other reduced to match but now I can't even find bras to fit, I was reduced to about a 32AA. I wear stretch bras because I just don't feel comfortable without one. Having to wear one for almost 40 years made it feel like part of my body, I don't go without underpants I wouldn't go without a bra either.
I used to be a 38D so it is a big difference.
I recently lost 68 lbs so imagine the size now, my 12 year old neice is bigger.
I am going for a 36B, maybe a 36C. Nothing too drastic since I am wearing a size 6 now, but something to fill in my blouses.
My insurance is paying the entire amount so I am not hesitating, but if I had to pay I am sure I would live with what my reconstructive surgeon gave me in 2004.[/QUOTE
I can totally understand getting them for this reason 100%
Okay, a few comments. First, for every paid plastic surgery procedure that gives plastic surgeons money to perform free procedures on the people for whom it is a necessity. Such as burn victims. Cleft lip/palate repairs are done by oral-maxilo-facial surgeons, and is covered by insurance.
It's funny that people talk about self esteem. So many things are done to improve our appearance. Hair color, make-up, dieting, etc. For those of you that think you should just allow nature to just take it's course, I wonder how many of you wear make-up or color your hair? There are people, Michael Jackson, that comes to mind, who are waaaaay around the bend about their personal appearance, but this is the exception. One pair of breasts does not make you an emotional cripple. Admittedly, surgery is more permanent, and has more dangers, but it still speaks to self esteem. I
The notion that someone would get implants and immediately start sleeping around because men pay attention to their chests is ridiculous. Again, this procedure has nothing to do with getting or keeping a man. My husbands opinion was "If this is something you really want." He could have cared less, one way or another. He likes them, but he is a butt man.
Again, I am "surgically enhanced." I would never fault anyone for getting implants, for whatever reason, but I don't understand why it is okay for someone who has had cancer to want to improve their appearance, and to take the risks to do so, but it is not okay for anyone else. For those of you in the "accept what "god" gave you camp, I would think you would say the same in that situation. (BTW...I TOTALLY disagree)
As foe what is or is not "budget" a lot can be said of other topics on this board. Vera Bradley/Coach purses, or vacations in general. Vacations are a luxury, too.
If you are happy and contented with your appearance as it is, then that is very good for you, but to judge others who are not, without actually knowing them is unfair.
