We are staying at GF for 4 nights on 4th of July. I had two questions regarding our stay: we are planning on spending sometime experience the resort recreation, any recommendations on things to do? and we are in a standard room, is there a building we should request? Thanks.

I really like the garden view rooms at Sago Cay and Conch Key. It will also keep you further away from the construction.

These buildings are close to Gasparilla's Grill, the counter service, near the big pool, near the marina and the boat dock.

Sago Cay also has a back entrance to the bus stop that will save time and avoid the lobby.

And definitely enjoy the fireworks, best view will be near the marina.

They have ping pong by the main pool which kept us entertained for a little while. Also you can rent the small boats to go out on Seven Seas Lagoon.
We stayed in Boca Chica, but I'm not sure if there are standard rooms there. We had a pool view and I think the other side is a lagoon view. If there are Standard View rooms in that building, it was very nice.
Just exploring the resort will keep you busy for a little while - it's beautiful and there are lots of little details to look at.

You're going to love the GF!!! We stayed in Big Pine Key and had a view of the castle. (we booked a garden view and they so wonderfully upgraded us) It was priceless. 1900 park Fare is wonderful for both breakfast &dinner, the GF Cafe is worth visiting for the hamburger topped with lobster and asparagus (I'm drooling just thinking about it!). And Narcoossee's is a wonderful restaurant.

Be aware that on July 4th the MK will most likely fill to capacity and close....so if that is your park for that day, plan on getting there early and don't leave mid-day for a break. I went years ago on July 4th, and while it was packed, it was SO much fun. The fireworks are amazing! If the still do the perimeter fireworks, your best view will be somewhere in the HUB. It's worth it. (I think, anyway)

Have a great time!:goodvibes

We went a few years back with family. We were invited to their Marriott Time Share. The parks weren't bad on 4th of July or for the week. We got up early and got to the parks and used fast pass. I was really surprised becasue they had the 3d fireworks I think they were called. We ate dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern when they still had characters....Loved it!

We let them run our cc and were able to go watch the fireworks and then return to eat the rest of our dinner.

Have fun!

I stayed in Conch Key and had a marina view. I could also see the monorail from the balcony. It was nice and peaceful.

I would make sure to watch the Electrical Water Pageant while there. The Garden View Lounge has tea and other offerings but if you were interested you should have a reservation. In the evening there's a pianist that trades off with a band. And be sure to eat at the restaurants. And the rental boats are lots of fun as well.

It's an easy ride to the Poly or CR on the monorail and those restaurants too. You could look around those resorts. There's a boat to the MK and then over to Wilderness Lodge.

The "maid brigade" was fun to watch but ask what mornings it will be.

Spending the 4th at the GF is fun for families who want to stay at the resort and play the special family activities they have planned. last year we were there and we saw a family win the parasailing at the Contemporary and I think there was a boat trip also given away.

It's hard to give up a park day if you are only there 4 days but look into the activities before you go anywhere. it's lots of good old fashioned family fun.

Enjoy the pools, and you can rent boats at the marina. My DH and sons love the boats, but DD and I enjoy a cold beverage in a pool-side chair!
