Breaking News: BLT Units 2A & 2B declared

I am excited about this. We plan on buying in late winter or early spring 2009. Maybe even talk Santa into it. I hope the price per point ins't as carzy as some have speculated. I would be willing to pay a premium, but not a ton.

We are not DVC members yet as we are waiting for BLT to buy-in. I am hoping it is announced before Christmas so it will also be waiting under my Christmas tree. Now I just need to drop enough hits to the DH!!!!

My new DVC guide called yesterday (Tuesday) to introduce herself.
I asked her about BLT. She said she can talk about it "in a couple of days."
We may not need to wait til October!

Incentives for AKV that people have received in an email state that they will expire on Sept. 20th. Rumors from different sources on other boards state that BLT will be announced on the Members Cruise, which starts on Sept. 21st. Same rumor states that new incentives will be offered for AKV at that time. I am not in any position right now to do any BLT purchase, but things look as if they may be falling into place. I'll just sit back and wait to see what the next couple of weeks hold.

Interesting take. When people get info on the cruises do they post quickly or is it delayed because they are "at sea"? If they make an announcement on the ship don't you think they would have to make some kind of simultanious announcement on the member website or via email. I CAN'T STAND IT!!!!

This may make sense since I would guess that DVC cannot book any sales until the 10 day rescission window is over which would put it at 10/1.

Sales usually don't start immediately when a new resort is announced. Look at GCV, it was announced months ago. I wouldn't expect sales to start this month, they need time to get the information out to members.

I'm happy to hear it's coming & now that I'm a member I might save up to have a few points there. Obviously, I want to see the new pricing and pt allocation first.


I have 2 minor issues...

1- I had really hoped they'd change the name away from BLT (it doesn't help the fact that that the building is shaped like a double burger bun, my kids are already referring to the 2 contemporaries as "Burger & Fries")

2- why do many of the resort pool slides tend to curve in circles? Is it to keep adults, who are far more prone to getting dizzy than kids, off?

I think I have finally decided against the add-on at AKL and waiting for BLT. I have always dreamed of owning there and cannot add-on at both right now.

Is there any significance to NYC?
Has DVC announced anything in NY before?

There have been a few hints that whatever is coming is REALLY BIG, and will knock our socks off.

Will we see a big expansion of DVC locations that include BLT?

I remember hearing that a DVC location was planned for NYC - Manhattan I think, but it was abandoned.

Perhaps they will be announcing the long-rumored "mini-resorts" in various locations around the country? I'm not sure what the "breakthrough insights about how American families travel" really show, but it is obviously getting more expensive and harder to fly to Orlando...so maybe the plan is to bring a little more Disney to the families. DVC I'm sure will have a component in that, since they blazed the trail with HH and VB.

However, Screamscape has updated their article here, with some speculating Disney will start its own airline (good luck getting landing slots at MCO), but more interesting is the idea of a "Disney Parks On Tour" - but the dates for the tour(s) start at the end of the month, and you'd think there would at least have been rumors prior to this if they were booking locations...

Ah, found where I heard of the NYC DVC, here at Yesterland....

DH believes that if he's going to buy DVC, he'd rather buy it at BLT than AKV, he has no interest in AKV at all. But the thought of BLT and maybe some 'special perks' for owning there is worth a higher pp cost and higher mf's to us.

I have a quick question: when a new DVC resort becomes available does Disney offer the purchase to current members first for a set time and then release sale to the public? I'm just curious if DVC members get first dibs

I think they both have and have not first offered to current DVC owners.
The last few did, AKV had a DVC only window,
GCV is supposed to have a small window for the GCV founders status owners (those that bought SSR and AKV points at DL)

Rember that the AKV initial founders "deal" was actually worse than they eventually offered to the general public. (Although if you get an extra year's vacation now, is it really a terrible deal, vs renting extra points now and buying later?)
