Riding my bike. DS wants some rotisserie chicken for dinner tonight; so that means I don't necessarily have to cook. DH and I have to work out what we want for dinner. I can always settle for a roast chook; but we will need to work out what for DH. He's vaguely talking about an omelette.

Truth be known....I'm craving a salad....nicoise style. I might just go pick some lettuce, boil an egg and open a tin of tuna. We have olives and cucumber; not tomato. I guess this would be close enough.

What ARE you? Wonder Woman? Are you seriously growing lettuce???????

Shesh!

:lmao: Pascha with the cancer gets the Fancy Feast.

The cats always get whatever we have, fried rice, rib eye, turkey, prime rib. Fran is a big sucker for the cats, and Sunny eats high off the hog, especially when we have ham!

That's a good play on words.

So do you have any basic cat food in the house? I've heard cats can survive on it.

Beef rib for the cats?

I don't feel so bad then. I go get cubed beef from the market and feed it to my cats. They get more meat than I eat! :rotfl:

Look at it this way, we're giving them our sloppy seconds! :lmao: they clean up what we can't finish and might have thrown away.

Oh yeah, they get two cans of Friskies in the morning and two cans at night. I'm just about to give them their dinner (though they won't eat a lot of it since I gave them all the ribs, maybe just one can tonight). I have to lie tomorrow and tell the people at the cat adoption that we feed them "wellness" brand cat food. All natural and organic. We can't afford that stuff! I think I might not tell them exactly how many cats we have.

Haven't you seen what I'm trying to grow this season???

Lettuce....yes, we are cropping these.

Zucchini....there are about 3 ready. This picture was from last week. I want to take a picture of the 3 on the bush for Bobbi before picking them.

Eggplant....currently flowering.

IMG_0809.jpg

Corn....also flowering; but who knows??

Not going so well....snow peas.

I have grown lettuce. Saves money, at least I knew where my lettuce came from.:lmao:

Lettuce grows really easily in my garden. I use it as my border plants during summer, if I know I'm going to be around to occassionally water it. Much more economical than putting in a pretty flower border...it might not look as nice; but if I plan it right and rotate a punnet or two every 4 weeks or so, I don't have to buy lettuce from late November throught to March.

This year, its been really easy. There's been a bit of water falling from the sky. I think I've only watered them once so far. This weekend will be the second time....maybe tonight or tomorrow morning.

When I was young I used to like picking a type of wild lettuce and bringing it home for dinner. I wish it was that easy now.

Now I've tried lettuce a few times, and it gets really buggy. The Napa cabbage I get from my organic crop share is holier than a nun on Sunday.

I don't know about holier than a nun...but I've never had success with cabbage. I don't like spraying and I tend to ignore my plants unless they are wilting.

Fact is....I probably should go out and pick those zucchini and give everything a round of watering.

Back soon.

While you take care of the garden bed, I'm going to take care of my bed. Good night Lasters.

So do you stuff the blossoms? That was one of the things they taught us at my last Napa Rose Cooking school classes. sniff sniff!

Sunny and I just finished our "forced" humidifier treatment. She didn't like the whole idea of being in the cage with the humidifier, so I hold her on my lap while she sits in the stream of the steam. She doesn't like that either, but she works better with it than freaking out in the cat cage.

We're heading to bed soon. Hopefully tomorrow I'll report in with pics of the new boy! I wanted a girl, but looks like we'll have boys. I put any glass things away already.

I haven't yet picked the blossoms to stuff. I keep thinking that I'm not going to get enough crop and every time I plant some, it reallly is hit and miss. Some years are better than others and some positions do well one year and not so well another year.

I might consider it depending on how the next couple of weeks go.

Have a good night too. I'm going to try and catch up on WFD thread. I have a curry recipe to post. But I think I'm going to grab a shower or a bath first. I brushed up against a couple of plants out there and I'm starting to get really itchy....this time of year, my hay fever just puts my system out of whack and I'm particularly sensitive to some plants.
