Thats Right Host_Lily just said watch newsletter for more information and about game times all games will close at posted time no matter what. So if you have a pass or are in line and you enter the room after the event they will not allow you to get a prize or play or anything. Closed and exit please is all Host_Lily would say.

VMK PASS IS NOW OFFICIALLY BAD!!!!! IF you DO NOT ENTER QUEUE AT POSTED TIME YOU MOST LIKELY WILL NOT GET ANYTHING!!!!!

I don't see why this is so bad. Actually, I am pleased for Hula, Phinny and Lily. I hope this makes their jobs much less stressful.

I will be disappointed, though, if it happens to me.

Like anything else, this is trial and error on VMK's part, and I for one am going to try to make the best of it. It's certainly better than click-click-clicking for three hours.

Just MHO.

ETA: By the way, events used to end at posted time in beta... I remember getting turned away from VMK_Babs' room for a spin the generator game about three minutes after game closed. As long as they post it in the newsletter, I think it's fine. I know that people will still flame the Hosts though, which is a shame.

at least when your clicking you know that if you get in you would have gotten a chance to play a game or won a prize via a teleporter. They could do the same thing just drop a teleporter and leave no host no problem the game is removed from the list and eveyone in line gets a prize. That is fair i got home at 5:32 it too 2 minutes to get to vmk and get logged in and then in the room so only a few minutes after posting and i just bearly got in before she closed i got in at 7:29 as she was barracading the door way.

Do one of two things vmk, let those in line get something better then the boot.
or two dont allow vmk pass on host events.

Three come up with a better solution then you have now!

I do in NO WAY BLAME the HOST they are great and do their job and go above and beyond their job, but i believe this is a new policy handed down to them not decided by them the HOST because I beleive they care about us the GUEST and the sometime MANAGEMENT can be short sighted and WRONG when it comes to PLEASING the GUEST.

I just think it is bad for vmk to say if you want to play this event you must get in line between 2:29:59 and 2:31:34 VMK TIME to PLAY this is just about as bad as trying to buy a PS3 on Release DAY from AMAZON Which Sold out in Seconds!!!! Before VMK Events were Gave you a Fair Window to try and get in, Now you can get in just the Window Has Shrunken So small EVEN Alice in Wonderland Could not fit in that small Window.

I share your opinion. The new system is perfectly fair and even though it will do me little good, since I'm rarely signed on when the room first opens, I think this is a fair system that rewards the early birds. I am glad they changed it, and hope that they do not tweak it.

I am sorry this system is far from Fair! IMHO, but that might not matter to most.
Nothing in Life, VMK, or Disney is ever truly FAIR. They do try and for that i do thank them, but think they should bring this back to the drawing board and storyboard us a new solution to this problem because their new policy on host events has plutoed the VMK PASS system!!!

It has always been the case that the hosts ended the games. They just used to take the game out of queue so you could no longer click. I really prefer being in a queue to the clicking and hoping to hit "49" all evening. This way, if you get in later, you can make a reasonable guess as to whether you will get in the room or not.

That was when VMK allowed endless lines, as they are doing now. When the cut off for a room was 49, everyone in line got to play. The hosts just stopped letting people in line at closing.

I'm less than thrilled. I just spent all evening in line only to not be able to get in. Unless you try in the first couple minutes you won't have a chance at these type of events.

So in other words from now on if we get into an event even a few minutes after stat we must assume that we will not get into the event! Well YEAH!!

I waited in line for an hour and a half this afternoon. It was 2 minutes after the game ended that I was to enter the room. Could not enter. They should limit the pass to a smaller number so people don't waste their time. This is ridiculous.

Its not a Fast pass, but rather a VMK pass now if it was to work like a FAST PASS they are limited to a specific number per hour and then they are out for that hour and move to the next time slot. If VMK does not in some why limit this it will get very bad.

Chip, I hope you don't think that I'm singling you out or picking on you, as that's not my intention. I am in no way saying that you would flame the Hosts!! I apologize if I wasn't clear.
Anyway, this whole "problem" interests me. I've been thinking about it since your OP. I applaud VMK for trying to find a solution to a problem of the Host rooms, since only a small percentage of Players seem to be able to get in to them. My personal solution would be to add more Hosts and Games ;) (I'll happily apply!!!! Woot!)
But a game that ends at its posted time makes sense. I think we've gotten spoiled as Players.
You also speak about putting a Teleporter to a prize room as an alternative. While that seems to be an attractive option, where would the cut off point be? After 100 extra Players? 500? A thousand?
And what of a person who played and lost? Is it fair to him or her that a person who got in line at the end automatically got a prize?
Again, I find this whole argument fascinating. Maybe too fascinating. Maybe I should get a life

By the way, got in line for Hula's game, (#102 in the first few seconds), line moved to #91 and then Firefox crashed. What can I do about it? Nothing, just hope to be able to get in line at another time.

EXACTLY! Why should only early birds get rewarded? You should have a CHANCE to get in even if you come home late from school or work. In the past, I could get into a room 10 minutes before closing. Now, you can get a useless pass if you get home late and hope that the 600 person lines starts to move fast.

I am going to assume that this idea sprung out of the idea of the FastPass in the parks. While it's a great idea theoretically and for things like room previews, this is quickly proving to not be a good idea, IMO. The problem of course, is that with FastPass Disney gets to spread the FP guests out over an entire day, once past the first hour or so that the park is open. Say MK opens at 9am and closes at 12am. Same amount of time VMK is open. Passes start going out around 9, with the first return times slated for around 10am. The passes are in increasing intervals of 5 minutes, and once a set amount of people get FPs, it bumps to the next return window. Eventually, the passes run out.

The problem with VMK Pass is: 1. there is no limit to the number of people who can get passes and 2. Host events do not last all the live long day. While it is a good idea theoretically, the way they're using it now is counterintuitive, if you ask me. They might as well change the event times from say 5:30pm-8:30pm to 5:30pm-5:30:30pm. For new rooms, lands, and preview rooms, it's great. But as I said with the teleporter game last night, what was the point? :confused3 It took me over 2 hours to get in the room to try once (I won, thankfully). Whereas before those types of games took a few minutes usually to get into queue and a mere 4 or so minutes to move through the queue.

While I love the concept, it just seems like a disaster to me so far, as far as events go.

First off thank you and i do know you did not mean to say that i was flaming the Host, I was and still am a little Flaming Mad over the subject, but i think this is good and that we can just shoot out some ideas and ma bey one of them will be the solution to the problem at hand. I do think adding more events would be good if you meant to say more Event rooms, so right now their would be say three or four host events all the same but gives a chance for more people to get in. Or even if you meant to just have more events all together that would also be a good idea. Where to cut off is also a good point and if every on in lne gets something they what of those who lost or can not stay on until the end to get their prize automatically, (or like you crashed out, that happened to my brother and sister in the lily event early today and thats how i found out about the closed room they were sad and now i am sad and mad for them lol) So much could be done so much has been done and i think yes we have gotten some what spoiled and deserving instead of being thankfully that we even have vmk and great the great HOST that we do have.

That is a Good point to Have and at this current point in time with how every thing is working a limit or cut off or something is needed.

Thank you, You have put in to English many of my same thoughts and ideas that i too am havening about this NEW VMK Pass System. I have made the same point about the events lasting second on other treads and that even FAST PASSES have Limits.

Another good point. Arwen/EvieAnne, were you here during Beta? I can't remember.

For those who weren't, here's how lines for Host rooms have worked (please anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I don't claim to be an Expert on anything in VMK...)

In the very beginning, there was no limit to the amount of people who could get in line. Might be in the 300-400's (cteddiesgirl, if you're reading this, can you put in your opinion? I think you have a lot of experience with this.) However, there were so few players that this seldom was the case (again, in my experience).

Then they limited it to 100 or fewer in line.

Then limited back down to 50 or fewer.

Now VMKPass.

My whole point of this was to reiterate that Virtual Magic Kingdom is an ongoing trial and error process, and that it will continued to be tweaked and retested (I HOPE!!!) until things run smoothly. Just that it's only a few days into VMKPass and that we should all try to be patient.

Oh, but Arwen, I think that's the best idea (and Chip, I think you had said this earlier, and Sorcerer? I forget)... Make it more of a FastPass-type option, with a finite amount of tickets in a specific time window. Maybe qruthie can explain if this is feasable to do from a computer programming point of view?
