Breaking Epcot into Two Days

Usually do one day in Epcot. My strategy was always doing FW stuff in the a.m. Miss heading straight to Soarin' to get the fastpass!

Then I would do some of the Flower and Garden/Butterfly garden stuff/Figment, etc. before heading toward Canada or Mexico. WS can be killer earlier in the day when the Florida sun is at its strongest! So, thru trial and error this had become my plan.

Did the same last year. All went well, felt like we had a very productive first part of the day. Headed toward Mexico. My back was already feeling pooped out. Yikes! I became a cranky person. The rest of WS was totally unpleasant for me because of my back. I remember fussing at the kids while they were doing the Agent P. game. Never thought I would make it to France!!

This year I am trying a new strategy for old folks with bad backs. LOL. I can laugh now.

Just wondering how many break EP into a two day park?

With the new fastpass system there is no room for last minute changes, so I would hate to regret this plan.

We are doing 2 full days on our upcoming trip. We were planning on mostly FW on one day, and mostly WS on the other day - with a slight intermingling on each day. Even with that, I'm sure there will be plenty we won't get to see. :o(

Also, if cutting down on walking is a desire, for your WS day would recomend taking the bus to DHS then boat it over to EPCOT and come in thru International Gateway so you're right in WS and don't have the hike thru FW. It isn't fast, but I always consider the boat ride another attraction.

Epcot is AT LEAST a 3-day park for us :)

In the past, we did it similarly to what you're saying: on the first day, we didn't even step foot in WS. Dinner at Coral Reef, then head out after that. WS and Illuminations on a later day. We sort of do that now, too, but with more flexibility.

We found that Future World at night is great, just make sure you get a fastpass for Test Track or Soarin'. Spaceship Earth is usually 15 minutes or less by 3 or 4, and everything else is practically a walk-on. It's beautiful at night, too. Then World Showcase right away when it opens on another day, no fastpasses needed there (yet, until Frozen open). If you take a bus, get a fastpass for the other Test Track/Soarin' that you didn't do on your first visit.

We have always split EPCOT into two days. FW on one day, and WS the next. Since WS doesn't open until 11a.m., we also use that as our sleep-in day. : )

I am all for a sleep in day!!! I think I have approached thru the back of Epcot before. Seems familiar.

We had four day hopper tickets once and did a lot of different transportation.

I agree that the boat ride can just be part of it!

I had to pick my fastpasses today. Was up till after midnight, so said: what the heck and just went for it.

I was a little nervous because of the slim fastpasses choices for Epcot.

My daughter reminded me there is plenty to see and do there. Her dream is to look in every nook and crannie of WS. Especially since the past few years we have been so tired (after staring in FW and only heading there in afternoon). We were really not doing WS justice.

I have Illuminations FP for both nights we go to Epcot. The only difference is one day we do morning FW and then on our WS day, we have Illuminations and a couple of things in FW later (I mean before Illum. but later as far as passes go).

I hope I do not regret two days Epcot. I think I will be okay. My fear is that I will still, just out of habit try to do too much the first day. I figure we can always head out of one part of the park or another, if we decide to chang it up.

I am really looking forward to paying much more attention to say: the America pavillion and try to hear the choir sing!

I think first day/actual first day/Sunday of our trip we will enter WS thru the Intl Gateway. We do not have a fastpass till 4pm, so we can take our sweet time. Basically do things a little backwards from what we normally do. That way I should have more steam going around the world/or maybe even just part of it!!

Sorry, I am a little manic from staying up so late doing my FPs. Glad to have a place to vent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:flower1:

Also realized there are boats at WS to hop across. Used those to catch David Cassidy show once. Had forgotten about them.

It was fun trying to explain to my then 12 year old about the Partridge family.

The Monkees were a whole other story.

We've never tried 2 days. But I think we're going to try it this year. We're getting Annual passes for the first time, since the Florida Resident discounted winter/Spring passes have been eliminated. We're hoping to stay at the Beach club in the Epcot area in October for Food and Wine. We'll walk over to the International Gateway on day for the World Showcase and Food & Wine.. and then another day for FW. That way we don't have to commit a full day and can enjoy the resort part of the day.

If you have two days planned at Epcot, there's an easy "fix" if you start to go into "overdrive" on your first day. You know you will another day so, take your time and if you are rushing from spot to spot and see something else you want to do, write it down because it'll still be there the next day. Make your plan for the first day and stick to it. Then fill in the second day with things you didn't get to do the first day. I would highly suggest you have your daughter make the plans for the second day or you the first or vice versa or both of you do it together. She seems to want to slow down and explore. That's why splitting World Showcase into two parts and Future World into two parts and doing one part of each during your two days would work. So, toss all the potential Future World attractions into a hat, pick out three for FastPasses on the first day, do those and then head to World Showcase and do one half that day. Then do the remainder the second day. You will have plenty of time on both days to fit in things that you didn't think of but look good while you are there.

Thanks disnut8, your post makes me feel more relaxed about it all! As I will not be doing the "thrill" rides, our fastpass picks at EP were slim w/o Soarin'.

Needles to say we will have plenty of time. That is a wonderful thought to just do anything we missed on the second day.

We are spending 6 nights at the hotel, going in on Sat. and returning on a Fri., so we can rest up when we get home.

Also, believe it or not, I want to do the Ellen Dinosaur ride, which I have not done in years. My daughter is refusing that one, but I am determined, just for old time's sake!! I figure it would be a good place to sit for a while out of the sun/or rain (which hopefully will not be the case).

I will let my daughter know about the idea of each of us handling the daily plans at Epcot. I think that is a wonderful idea!!

I usually am a control freak and I MUST do what I set out to do. That is how I think I injured my back years ago; hard headed!!

Not having so many fastpasses choices at EP is actually kind of refreshing.

Had my 1st trip there last month. Planned on 2 full days there. Day 1 after 3 hours my BFFs decided they were tired and went back to the resort while I stayed on my own. After walking around WS alone until 8 pm I left and still didn’t see everything I planned to since we were coming back the next day for our day 2. Well, after getting back ‘home’ they told me that they decided to cancel Epcot for tomorrow and we were doing AK after all the next day (our last day and they didn’t want to do AK originally). I was sooooo mad! I passed on a lot of things since I couldn’t do it all in 1 day. When I go back in October I am doing 2 full days at Epcot! There’s so much to do at Epcot ie; eating, drinking, sightseeing, shopping, walking (lots of walking!), character M&G (which I love) I feel 1 day isn’t enough.

dmc6469 I totally agree with you about EP. I will try to remember to post how things went when I get back.

I feel bad because I usually use AK as my half day park on day of departure.

We get there fairly early, not too early and then we have until around 4 to be there before having to get back to catch our ME bus.

AK is so big!!!!!!!!! A lot of people do not realize that. It is a frustrating park because as far as I am concerned there is not as much to do.

And AK close too early.

I am excited about some of the changes that will be made to AK, making it an all day park.

So this trip, even though I had hoped to allow more time for AK, it got put in its half day spot once again.

This, due to the fact that I have to take EP at a slower pace. MK of course needs more than one day and despite all the slack I am hearing about HS and construction, we are doing one day there.

So five full park days and 1/2. Plan to take it slower this year. I am "wishing" I can find a place to sit down during the MK fireworks. That is a killer at the end of a long day. I just switched my inbound flight to a direct one, so might have time to do something the evening of our arrival.

I got so tired of having a larger group in Disney and everyone not being on the same page. So for years now I have "managed" the trip on my own with my daughter!! She is a big girl now, so someone's suggestion of letting her plan will have to be taken into consideration!!!! I have got to learn to Let It Go:idea:!!!!
