By the way, did Bob actually say that both major attractions will be opening in May? There was some internal speculation a couple months back that "Flight" might open a bit later than the rest of the area.

Bob Iger didn't specifically say that both attractions would open in May. But according to sources, both attractions are now undergoing testing, and should be ready for the May opening. I don't see any reason why they would not debut both rides at the same time. But I also heard that speculation a while back. As far as i'm aware, that has now changed.
Ugh, I hope so. Count us among the few who are less than thrilled for Pandora to open during our trip. We are hoping to hit up morning EMH on Memorial Day to hopefully hit a few favorites and hightail it out of there after a Tusker House brunch, as long as the schedule doesn't change...

Brand new AP holder here. Has there been any special AP event in the past for large openings like this? If so, when does that get announced. I already planned vacation time at my job for the week of June 4th based on the rumors. Do we think this will impact resort availability/pricing? Should I book sooner rather than later?
Yeah that's my worry. We arrive June 2nd. I remember trying to get SDMT FP the first few days it was available, the website crashed on consecutive nights.
I already got the DW and DD's railing on me that I have to get those FP's. Sure no problem, 60 days out, 11pm fighting the masses
Oh we'll still happy it will be open when we arrive!
This is great and I'm glad it's finally opening but now I'm facing a conundrum. I'm only doing one day in WDW this year and this makes it really hard to decide on which 2 parks to do.
Yay!!!! Our trip is end of November, sounds like all this timing works out perfect for us! Everything will ne running in time for my ADR date so I can get a ROL dining package, and it leaves enough time to hear other peoples touring strategies before my FP+ dates!
Does anybody suspect they will have a separate ticket late night thing in the same spirit of EMM at MK? I would pay that money to experience Pandora without the insane crowds, and Im already stressing a little about getting FP...

We'll miss it for our May trip but since we have APs will likely go back end of July. I'll probably send my 4 year old to a kids club and go alone. He doesn't know Avatar, will probably be too short for the flight ride and doesn't handle lines well. I'm excited though!!!

What does everyone see this doing to the crowds in the rest of WDW, particularly the remainder of AK. We are booked for a trip in June and will be going to AK on Friday the 12th. We have no interest in Pandora and hoping the new opening will ease the crowds in the rest of the park. Maybe?

I think there will be a lot of people going ( locals ) for the first few weeks of it opening I know I am planing to go down either opening day or a few days latter and if this was not opening I probable would not go down.
