BREAKING: Bob Iger announces opening date for Pandora!

So I will be heading to April 29 - May 5.... I was thinking it might be possible that Disney will be doing a soft opening of Pandora during that time. I was wondering if anyone could discuss how Disney has done soft openings. Is that section of the park open for the day or just a few hours?

I'm not terribly optimistic that it will occur, but just wanted to know how it might work.

I saw the video. All this mystical water and light stuff is just not my thing. In a Disney nighttime extravaganza I want the classics. Songs primarily (but not necessarily exclusively) drawn from the shows I already love. So I'll be happy to hit a few extra attractions while the masses are sitting through this one.
I don't have an issue with original material i think its nice that there isn't any IP in there, but it isn't stimulating just not enough to it. For an Amphitheatre of that scale the show isn't enough. Honestly (and I hate to say it), while it was poorly staged, designed and directed, I preferred the Jungle Book show, live music, dancers and the water effects, it was culturally accurate while telling the story of the film well... I know I'll get stick for saying that haha!

This is actually longer than the fireworks shows on property.
It may be longer but for a large scale Amphitheatre style seating, its not long enough. If you don't do a dining package or get a fastpass, just a genuine guest you will have to get your place up to 1.5 hours before the show, for only a short 15 minute payoff. Like I say visually it is lovely but the story isn't strong enough and if it were much longer, as it is, children wouldn't find it stimulating. That's just my opinion though as a theatre director everyone will feel differently.

For a conceptual show like this it being much longer would have people bored.

Does anyone have any idea whether there will be a walkway between Pandora and the Lion King show area of Africa. It looks like the path goes a little ways toward Pandora from the theater. It would make sense to have the loop go all the way around and take some pressure off that one bridge.

I am also wondering about soft openings for Pandora. We're leaving the 23rd:(

I've said it before. If a CM says, "Would you like to go this way with me?" Do it. People get so focused on their original plans, they often miss subtle cues they are given. Don't walk up and say "Can I get a preview?" Be friendly, and be aware. :)

So, I am hearing rumblings of AK going to a tiered attraction park. Which attractions do you think will be Tier 1?

My tier 1 predictions:
-The two rides in Pandora plus any show(s) in Pandora requiring FP+
-ROL
-EE
-Possibly Lion King

Before Avatar, they didn't need tiers, apparently. So, I think that only the 2 Avatar rides will be tier 1, with the option of taking 3 tier 2's.

If anything else is in Tier 1 with Avatar, it would be highly under chosen until Avatar was gone. And, once Avatar is gone, FP choices will be the same as it is now, and they don't need tiers for the way it is now.

I am planning on our last park day being AKL just in case they do any soft openings as we leave on the 26th. That being said I was one of the few who expected ROL to debut on time last year and had booked with it slap bang in the middle of our trip. It never happened so it wouldn't surprise me if this gets delayed too. My only worry is I'm a scardicat and the 2 rides I wont have any info on. Pirates I hate because of the drop so I really doubt I'd do the rides anyway but it would be so nice to see the land itself.

I cannot wait to see Disunplugged and TimTheTrackers videos for this, but it's going to make my wait till December even worse :sad1:

I'm curious about the flight of passage ride, my Mom has bad knees (she's finally breaking down and using a scooter this trip just to help) she does fine for the most part, the only ride's she really can't do are Splash Mountain (it's just cramped onto her knees) and space mountain otherwise she's fine. I'm really curious how this ride is going to be handled if some of those leaked photos about sitting on a Ikran/Banshee is going to be done. Hopefully it's something she'll be able to ride and enjoy.

I mentioned that the Social Media Moms were there recently and got to see Pandora. The vlogger I watch posted a vlog talking about the New Experiences at AK. They were not allowed to film but she talks about it here.

Pandora starts around 8:30
