Can this be done?

I found a recipie for a hashbrown/eggs casserole. Where you let it cook for 10 hours and it will be ready in the AM.

Has anyone attempted to do a breakfest meal in the slow cooker?? And if so what have you made?

Im looking for a quick but filling start to the morning we go to MK so we can get there ASAP for rope drop with out having to get up at the crack of dawn. LOL

Thanks!

My friend does oatmeal in a slow cooker. She uses steel-cut oatmeal. Instant or quick cook would probably turn into a gooey mess. Let us know how it comes out! My DD's summer swim team does a team breakfast and I am always looking for some nice and easy protein to take with me when we have to be at the pool by 6:00 am!

Jimmydean.com - do a search for breakfast casserole or a google search for "slow cooker breakfast" and you'll find many suggestions.

I did a breakfast casserole in a crockpot several years ago and it was wonderful. It had eggs, sausage and hashbrowns. It was nice because I threw everything in the crockpot before I went to bed and woke up to it ready. Unfortunately, I don't remember the recipe. I use allrecipes when I need something and they have a lot of crockpot recipes on there, so you could try there if you want. I don't know if I went there and got the breakfast casserole recipe or not. It was too long ago for me to remember. lol

How long did it take to cook??? 10 hours? Or did it need more??? The one I found says 10-12 hours

Mine was more than 10 hours, but I don't remember if the recipe called for more than 10 hours. The eggs were fine. They were fully cooked and didn't taste overcooked at all. I know that was a big fear of mine and I scooped right out of the middle when I got up to make sure they were done. lol

This is a fantastic idea! I'm determined to make rope drop on our upcoming trip and this will save a ton of time. My family normally takes forever to decide on what to eat and get it done. Now I can throw food at them as they wake up. I'm excited!

I have cooked an egg, sausage, and hashbrown breakfast in the crockpot and it turned out great! We made burritos with it. Quick and easy:cool1:

Do you cook it over night??? I found a burrito recipie that just has it in the slow cooker for 3 hours. But it has the pre cooked sausasge.... I don't wanna wake up at 3 just to start it. LOL:sad2:

Here is the recipe;
12 eggs or 2 cartons egg beaters
1 (32 oz) bag frozen O’Brien hash browns (rinse to get rid of any freezer burn taste)
1 lb cooked & cut up bacon, ham or sausage (or a mix of them)
1/2 C diced onion (of course I used more….also used green peppers)
3/4 lb shredded cheddar cheese
1 C milk
1 C sour cream
1/2 tsp dry mustard (I didn't add this when I make it)
Salt & pepper & other seasonings to taste

Directions:
1.Spray 6 quart slow cooker with nonstick spray.
2.Put ½ of the hashbrowns, meat, and onion mixture. Sprinkle on half the cheese. Repeat.
3.Mix together eggs, milk, sour cream and seasonings. Pour this mixture over the top of ingredients in slow cooker.
4.Cook on low for eight hours.

Hope this helps!

Poly perk use to make what looked like a little coffee maker but it was actually to heat water and soups. It is easier to find at Christmastime.
