Breakfasts on the disney dining plan

Hi all,

I am just wondering how breakfasts work with the dining plan? I am visiting the world as solo traveller who isn't fussy when it comes to food and won’t have to worry about others tastes! I’m not sure which resort I will be staying at yet but I will be visiting each of the 4 parks during my visit.

Can you use a quick service or table service credit for breakfast? Would you recommend having a bigger breakfast and then a snack for lunch or are lunches better value than breakfasts on the plan? Where are good places to eat breakfast either in parks or resorts?

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used the Disney dining plan and what they did for breakfasts.

Many thanks in advance for your responses,

Amy

If you are paying for the DDP then people will say to use the TS for dinner as then you will for sure get your money's worth.

I don't pay for it (yes, I know I do in a way) as I go during Free Dining. I just pick the TS meals I want to eat at. Some days we will eat at a TS for breakfast, others will be dinner.

You can use your CS for breakfast also. At breakfast you get two drinks (one is your dessert, but they don't do dessert for breakfast), and your entree.

Some people bring breakfast type foods and use the CS for lunch and the TS for dinner. You can also use your snack credit for a muffin, danish or other breakfast type food.

It really depends on you. I have to eat breakfast before going anywhere. I will eat a cereal bar even if I have a breakfast TS meal before the park opens. My body must have food before I start my day.

I think the resorts have a good selection for breakfast foods. You can use either a snack credit or a CS. There are also some places in each park that you can get breakfast using your snack or CS credits.

You can also purchase the refillable mug and use it for your drink. Then if you use a CS for breakfast get water or something that will still taste good for the park (no glass bottles).

You can use both QS and TS for breakfast if you want, only if the certain restaurant accepts it. Here is the PDF link that tells you which.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...alog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2010Dining.pdf

On the regular DP, you get 1 QS and 1 TS per night (and 1 snack). So, if you stayed 4 nights, you could eat 4 TS meals and 4 QS meals in one day, but would probably not want to. On the Deluxe DP, you get 3 meals and 2 snacks per night, and can use them anyway (QS, TS, or 2 for Signature or Dinner Show). You can also use QS or TS at any of the Disney resorts.

As for price, the breakfast TS meals, character or other, are always cheaper than dinner. So, when we did the regular DP, we would bring food at eat breakfast in our room (cereal, pop tart, etc.), a QS for lunch, and a TS for dinner. We did DXDP last week and had a character breakfast in the morning and signature dining in the evening, with snacks for lunch. It is a lot of food and we brought home 20 Mickey rice krispie treats.

As for which restaurants, we have tried most on the DP and have a few favorites. But, check out the PDF in the link I sent before and see what restaurants are at which park that you want to go. Or, see what is near the resort you are staying in. At the top of this board on the dining link, you can type in the name of the restaurant and see the menu.

We love to do the character breakfasts, like 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian or Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom, which both take 1 table service. I used to think that it was a waste to get a quick service breakfast b/c at lunch time you get a combo meal, drink, and dessert. Much to my surprise, while i was getting a breakfast combo platter at POP Century resort, and my Nesquick, they said i get a danish as my dessert.
Normally i like to use my QS for lunch but this trip i think i'll change it up and do some breakfasts at Pop and some lunches at the waterpark. Flame Tree in Animal Kingdom is my favorite QS, they have the best bbq ribs and you get a corn muffin which is huge, baked beans and a dessert like key lime pie. mmm

I personally have never found using a TS dining credit for breakfast to be a great use of credits. Breakfast food is cheap and, with little exception, breakfasts at most WDW restaurants don't seem to have much variety. My DH loves a good breakfast though, so usually we will do one TS breakfast per trip (Boma, for example). When we go on the DDP, we tend to use snack credits for breakfast, and then use a QS and TS credit for lunch/dinner. Since our breakfasts are light, we tend to have an early lunch, and then dinner around 6:00 pm. But, to each his own...the DDP gives you plenty of options and flexibility, so if breakfast is your thing, go for it.

We've only done the Quick Service Dining plan, so I can only speak from that experience. We're two adults, and what we usually do is use one QS or two snacks for breakfast. We always eat breakfast at our resort (All-Star), for convenience, but also I like the many choices. They don't advertise this too much, but with a QS credit, you can replace one of the drinks for something else (QS breakfast is one breakfast plate plus two drinks). So what we usually do is use a QS credit to get a breakfast plate (ex: pancakes w/saussages), plus one fruit bowl and one bottle of water (which we save for later in the park) or juice. We use our refillable mugs for our morning coffee or hot chocolate. We split that, and it,s always way enough to last until lunch. Otherwise, we'll use 2 snacks (ex: one bagel and one fruit bowl), plus refill our mugs with coffee.

Frankly, I can't imagine being on the regular DDP: I just love having my 2 QS, 2 snacks and mugs!
