Having previously stayed at Explorers last years breakfast scrumdown at SL came as a bit of a shock! In your experience whats the quietest breakfast slot or should i just bring my shoulder pads?:badpc:

I'll be down there at 7am. Apparently thats the quietest time.

I think most of the onsite hotels are the same - get there before 7.30ish to avoid the scrums.

It doesn't matter which breakfast slot you are given when you check in - you can go earlier.

Elaine

doesnt that kinda make a mockery of the system they put in placer to avoid the scrum?

Yep, but thats the way it is :confused3 .

Every time I've stayed at an onsite hotel (so that would be 6 breakfast slots up to now) I've been offered 8.15, 8.30 or 8.45 (even when I've requested earlier slots). The first morning of my first onsite stay, I turned up for breakfast at my slot time - only to find the queue for the restaurant out the passageway and practically out the outside door!

I've always gone earlier since then, and have had a completely scrum-free breakfast.

When we stayed we had breakfast around 7.15 most days and it was enjoyable, the one morning we had it late we did notice a difference but there were 2 orderly queues to get into the restaurant and although there were lots of people getting food it wasn't a scrum, just alot of people and it was very busy.

I would certainly choose to be there for around 7.15 when I next stay there!!(Maybe NYE!):)

My friend stayed at the Newport Bay Club last October and she commented that that was a scrum! and that Breakfast at the SL even at our later sitting was a peaceful experience in comparison!

I didn't think you could go earlier, but always knew you could go later.

There are usually 2 queues though, one for guests who are "On Time" and another for those who are not. Those who are on time get seated before those who are not and that is why there is often a queue.

Can't say i've ever found the breakfast room itself to be too busy, but have in the past preferred a breakfast between 8 and 8.30 so that we can be at the park for opening.

With the new EMH i may go for earlier this time, especially as our youngest is usually wide awake at 6AM anyway:(

My advice would be to get there as early as possible (preferably 7.00 - 7.30). It's not so much a scrum as an orderly chaos with everyone looking at what's on offer, then deciding what to have for breakfast.

7.00 - 7.30 is lovely, we've never had a problem going in at this time, even though we've been allocated later breakfast slots and of course you'll be all ready for the EMH 8.00am opening. :)

7 oclock it is then. fits in with emh anyway. Heres to a scrum free breakfast:stir:

Does anyone know if the breakfast at Hotel New York is as 'scrum like'?
:confused3
We're goin midweek Jan 5th-8th so I'm hoping it will be quietish?

We're going to HNY on 30th September, so if no one replies before then i shall report back on here.

We've had 8/8/15 am slots at SL before and have never experienced a 'scrum' lol. The longest queue we've probably experienced was probably around 10 people long at the most?! It was busy inside when getting food but was quite civilised, if you get what I mean lol.

I've been to NY quite a few times now at various times of the year and have never had to face a scrum... it's one of the main reasons I keep going back there although I do like SL & NBC also for the atmosphere, but getting up in the morning having to fight for breakfast is not my idea of a relaxed start to the day ;)

BTW next visit in 3 weeks !! :dance3:

i have to say, on the 2 mornings we had breakfast at cheyanne, neither was scrumlike!
the first was 7:15am, and there was plenty of table space to sit down, the 2nd was 8:30am, and, yes, it was busy, but as weather was nice we sat outside ;) but the gettin of the food was very organised with ppl in a line taking turns, not what i was expectin after readin how busy it can be....
am hopin in dec it will be quieter still (but aimin for gmf breakfast on at least one day again too!)

I do find at the NY though at the busier times your chances of eating in the diner or the restaurant are limited and you are more likely to be in one of the convention rooms.

How good to hear! We are going to HNY for 9 nights from the middle of August and I was wondering what the breakfast there was like. Do they use both restaurants?

Hi Christopher, Last time I was there the Manhattan restaurant was closed for refurbishment and they were serving breakfast in the convention centers. On previous occasions, both restaurants were being used. I think it all depends on the number of people in the hotel and whether there are any conventions on during the stay.

Thanks for your quick answer! you've put my mind at rest (a bit!).

We stayed at NY for 3 nts in feb and ate breakfast in both restaurants and a conference room. We ate at around 7am and not once did we see a queue.
