We are sailing the Majic again in Nov. 2006. :cool1: The one thing my DH missed was eatiing breakfast in one of the resturants. Which was your favorite and why?

Thanks! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy:

I think they only have one restaurant open for breakfast. We only ate there for the Character breakfast and it was a buffet. I was not impressed. I would rather go to the buffet (Beach Blanket or TopSiders) and have that buffet. It is much more extensive and they have the guys making the made to order omelets. BUT remember I have not been to the breakfast with the sit down and menu style ordering.

Usually, Lumiere's is open for breakfast. On sea days, Parrot Cay is open for the character breakfast for those people on the specific rotation that is doing CB that day--your head server will give you "tickets" for the character breakfast on your specific day.

On some days, there was a breakfast deal where they made omlets to order, etc.

In general, the breakfast off the menu is just "so-so". There is more selection up on deck 9. The omlets were really good.

Lumiere's/Triton's offers the opportunity to be served at your table, which some may prefer when available, that is just a question of style. Eggs to order at table service turned into a circus at Triton's on our first cruise when my DSIL sent her eggs back 2 or 3 times as having been done wrong. Lucky me, I just eat eggs scrambled, but "over well" didn't seem do-able that morning. Parrot Cay has the same buffet choices as Topsiders/Beach Blanket, and with servers for beverages it is a nice setting with omelettes to order. On the days when sitting outside would be nice, which can be often, then go up top. They're each really different, and I just didn't see much advantage to the formal restaurant off a menu except that you got to sit at your table and be served. Oh--and be forewarned that there will be others seated at your table to fill the seats, so it is a chance to make new acquaintances, but perhaps not the place for solitary mediatation.

I wasn't impressed with the breakfast in the restaurants. That was the only bad thing on the whole cruise. Next time we will do Topsiders instead.

We too had a problem with the eggs, had to send them back several times and finally gave up. I vote for the buffet.

We only did the Character Breakfast and final morning in the dining room, did Topsiders for the rest of the mornings so don't know about the quality of the food, but there was a wide selection of breakfast food on the restaurant menu, things like eggs benedict, so it looks promising.

When did they make the character breakfast a buffet? On both of our cruises it has been from the menu. IDK how everyone could get their food with the characters making their rounds.

Our character breakfast wasn't buffet. We ordered off the menu which was pretty much the same as the other restaurants when they had breakfast served. I ordered the eggs benedict....weren't all that great.

No, the character breakfast wasn't a buffet, it was a limited menu, not as limited as the final day, but no Eggs Benedict. I said the only time we DIDN't eat at the breakfast buffet was for the Character breakfast and the last day.

:) You just happened to be the post before mine. Jsme said that the CB was a buffet so I wanted to make sure.

just my .02 - DH and I ate at Triton's on 4 day cruise for breakfast - we enjoyed sitting with others and if memory serves me correctly the host asked us if we wanted a table alone or to sit with others. They sat us across from each other, alongside other couples/partners and we mainly held our own conversations across from our breakfast mate.

My DH loved the eggs benedict and is looking forward to it again. I LOVED the muesli - can't wait for it again. It was nice to have a quiet slow served breakfast

lumieres was nice for a good sit down breakfast, the character breakfast is just awesome to watch our little ones faces get so excited and for something good but quick or easy topsiders is perfect. I like going out and watching the water go behind us, just beautiful!!

Timing may make a difference in your choices. I believe Lumieres opens later and has shorter breakfast hours than Topsiders (but check your nagivator). Several days we had two breakfasts.

We really enjoyed eating breakfast at Triton's/Lumiere's. It is nice to be served and not have to deal with lines at a buffet.

Being west coasters on eastern time, we had a hard time making breakfast
anywhere but Topsiders.......sit down closed too early for us. I should point out that DS, 18, has been regularly sleeping in until 3 pm during this, his summer break between High School and College.

I dearly love Eggs Benedict, my wife makes them from scratch for me every Father's Day (except this year because I was with our son at college orientation).
I guess some are very picky about how they are prepared, I've been lucky, never had bad Eggs Benedict.
