I've arleady booked my ADRs but keep having doubts about Akersus...only becuase we have a DS9 and he will already have to sit through CRT.
I know some have suggested Cape May, but I've seen others rave about Tusker House and Boma. Never been to DW so don't know the logistics....are Tusker House or Boma drivable from Epcot? Or are they far that they are not worth it? We will also be going to MNSSHP at MK later in the day so not sure I want to try to keep our breakfast ADR at Epcot just to simply things or if adding one more location for that day is ok.

Not sure what the real question here is but here are my answers non the less

1. Tusker House and Boma are drivable from anywhere if you have a car.
2. Tusker House and Boma are IMHO 2 of the best breakfasts in WDW
3. Akershus is a nice breakfast as is CM Cafe. just not on par with the other 2
4. Not sure how this all relates to MNSSHP

They are driveable, but not worth going pour of your way for if you are not at AK that day. Boma is very popular in these boards, but I had such a miserable experience I won't be headed back there any time soon. If you are doing MNSSHP, you could make it a MK day, Crystal Palace is a good option for a character meal. My personal favorite is the Wave, but there are no characters. Really, character wise for breakfast in the Epcot area your two choices are Cape May and Akershus.

If park tickets are an issue, I'd go with Cape May or Boma. I try to book CM more because it's one of the cheaper character meals.

Otherwise, I'd pick a breakfast place close to where you're staying or whichever park you're going to that day.

We've never been to MNSSHP, but if it's like the Christmas party you can get in at 4pm. I wouldn't waste a park ticket on MK that day and then pay the additional for the party.

I think, of the two, Boma is much "easier" to incorporate since TH is inside AK and that is a bit more of a production. We like Boma (and TH) and AKL is worth visiting, if you can allot some time to it. AKL and Epcot are about a 10-15 minute drive apart. Epcot is central and AKL is on the far southern fringes of the property.

All that said, I would just keep Akershus. :)

I personally would not go to Tusker House or Boma on an Epcot or Magic Kingdom day unless I was staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you are driving to the parks and don't want to necessarily eat at that park, then I recommend going to breakfast at one of the monorail resorts. Then you can park at TTC, take the monorail to your breakfast, then on to the park from there. What's nice about the monorail resorts if that you can plan your breakfast while still not knowing if you will be at MK or Epcot that day, because you can take the monorail to either one after your meal.

Fun monorail-resort breakfasts include the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at O'hana (Polynesian Resort), Mary Poppins and others at 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian), and Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. Those 3 are all character buffets or family style. If you don't care about that, though, there are several other restaurants on the monorail that are supposed to be very good. Good luck planning!! :thumbsup2

Sorry, my post was probably confusing. My current plan for the day is:

  • Breakfast ADR at Akershus
  • Spend rest of morning and afternoon at Epcot
  • Head over to MK for MNSSHP between 4pm and 5pm

I selected Akershus because it is at the park we'll be at, but am hesitating because it will be a second princess meal my DS will have to sit through. So am looking at alternatives and if others that have had good reviews are easy to get to.

Cape May is ok but we're already booked at Chef Mickeys so don't want another similar character meal.

I will scratch Tusker House off as I didn't realize it is at AK.

Have heard great things about Boma breakfast and am wondering if we should try that instead. We will have use of a car and of course Disney transit.

That is also a good idea to try a resort breakfast. I tried for Ohana dinner and didn't get it at the time I wanted, so perhaps that is an option. Thanks. Didn't think of it.

What other non character meals on the monorail resort are good? Doesn't have to be character as we have a few already.

I agree about Tusker House. Don't do it if you're set on that day being your Epcot day. If you want to give it a try, then make that your AK day.

If you're set on keeping this day your Epcot day, then try the breakfast at 'Ohana. You can always walk over from the Poly to the Epcot monorail line and do that. Leave your car at the TTC and it'll be there waiting for you when you leave at the end of the party.

Lots of people rave about the breakfast at Kona Cafe (Polynesian). They have a pressed coffee pot and something called Tonga Toast that is pretty famous around here. ::yes:: I have heard the Wave at the Contemporary makes a nice breakfast, and we really like the Grand Floridian Cafe (Grand Floridian ;) ). They have a lobster eggs benedict! You can find all the menus at wdwinfo.com under dining.

There are strong indications that a Kona will not be open in the fall because of the Polynesian Grand Ceremonial House refurb. Just FYI. They are accepting ADRs now, but, if you decide that route, pay attention here as Disney has a history of not informing their customers until the last possible moment.

Tusker House is very good, however it is in Animal Kingdom Park. Unless you are planning on changing your park to AK, it's not worth the drive. Cape May buffet is at the Beach Club, which is a boat ride or a short walk to Epcot. That would be a great choice for breakfast as it is also very good! Boma is in the Animal Kingdom Lodge hotel. This breakfast is doable, but still not as close to Epcot as Cape May. On the monorail line, another non character restaurant that is said to be good is the Grand Floridian Cafe at the GF. Many people rave about their food as well. Good Luck!

The Wave at CR has an amazing breakfast buffet. It's my favorite buffet on property!

For convenience, I would keep the breakfast at Askerhaus or have a quick service breakfast in France (I think France is open for breakfast at 9).

Thank you all for your suggestions. Gives me something to think about.
If there's a chance that Kona won't be open in the fall (we'll be there in Oct), then I will skip that one. Have heard about this famous tonga toast though. We already have The Wave booked for dinner (our backup choice for Ohana). it doesn't have to be a character breakfast so will check the menu for Grand Floridian as well.

So sounds like it makes more sense to either stick with Akershus since we'll be at Epcot...or select a monorail place for breakfast. But Boma would be more out of our way...even with a car.

Hi. :) My family really enjoys Cape May for breakfast. They have a wonderful selection of foods and the character interaction is really fun. You are just a short stroll back to Epcot and the walk is very easy.:)

If you need another Epcot Breakfast idea other tha CM Cafe and Akershus, you can try Captains Grille at the Yacht Club, or Kouzzina at the Boardwalk(depending on when you are going because this is closing) There is also the Boardwalk bakery which isnt a TS but has coffee and buns whih are really good too

I also recommend the Captains Grille at the Yacht Club. You can order off the menu or enjoy the buffet. It's a non-character dining experience and we have never had to wait to get in for breakfast (everyone seems to head over to Cape May.) Actually, as River Country noted, Kouzzina's is also good and the bakery has some fun things for breakfast).

I'd definitely go for Cape May. Even though you have Chef Mickey's booked, Cape May is great! The character interaction is wonderful and the food is very good too.

I've heard good reviews about Captain's Grill (Yacht Club) but haven't been there myself. I know they have a buffet and a la carte menu so everyone should be able to enjoy something :)

For convenience, I would keep the breakfast at Askerhaus or have a quick service breakfast in France (I think France is open for breakfast at 9).

Really? I thought WS did not open until 11? What kind of breakfast do they have in France?

We had breakfast in France last week, about 10:15, I believe they do open at 9:00. A great ham and cheese croissant for me, and chocolate croissant for my son...it was great!
