We are staying at the HNY in less than two weeks time :yay: and it's the first time there for a very long time for us so could anyone could tell us what to expect at breakfast time please? We are familiar with the offerings at the SL and NBC but wondered what additions to the breakfast menu there might be. I remember some hot items but not sure what these were. Are there any cereals other than the same four options offered in the other hotels? What about different varieties of cheese? Is the fruit salad any different? Any additional drink options? Really looking forward to this trip! :)

Id be interested in this too as stsying there late june.
ive heard its potatoes, sausages and scrambled eggs, i might be worng though.

Anyone been recently??

Usually a very good variety at HNY for breakfast :thumbsup2

Loads of cold items including fruit, yoghurt, various breads, rolls, toast, loads of different branded cereals, cheese etc. Hot items include scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and potato bits. Pic below taken from our visit last May, but has been the same over the last few years:

One tip i'd give - when you approach the restaurants, walk past the Parkside Diner and go straight ahead to the Manhattan Restaurant. Although the Parkside is nice, if there are a lot of you then you may end up with a booth, which can make buffets quite difficult. Breakfast is exactly the same in both.

We were at HNY middle of March.

Can't comment on the cereals as I didn't see what was there, but my friends 5yr old had some sort of chocolatey cereal - not sure what it was, choco flakes maybe, sure they weren't cocopops lol.

There was a selection of yogurts and I think there was fruit (can you tell I wasn't really with it at 7am :lmao: ) but there was definitely bacon, sausage, scrambled egg and those sliced potato thingys :) plus sliced cheese and cold sliced meats.

A selection of rolls and pastries including the ones with chocolate in. Plus the little pots of jam, marmalade and nutella. There was also sliced bread, so you can do toast - the toast machine takes ages and only does one side at a time :rolleyes1

Fresh orange juice, I think the other juice option was apple. Plus the usual selection of tea bags and coffee etc. The juice, hot water and milk are all in machines, the type you put your cup under and press the buttons/lever to dispense. I'm sure there was also bottles of water - I vaguely remember seeing largish glass bottles - I presume they don't do the smaller evian ones to stop people walking out with them :confused3

I love their crusty rolls :thumbsup2 and the bacon, eggs and potatoes are yummy too.

We were in the parkside diner every morning as there was also a conference on the week we were there. We had a 7am slot everyday and it was never busy or rushed :) Except for one morning when we were late, we got there at 10.20 and were sent into the manhattan, same food just different seating layout. They didn't have a problem with us turning up late, even though breakfast finished at 10.30, there was only 2 other families in there with us, even though it was close to closing time the selection of food was still good and everything was still fresh.

Hope that helps

Thank you for all the info and details, picture and good tip about trying to get to the Manhattan. I'll definitely aim for that. I seem to remember having breakfast in a large marquee when we were there years ago.

DH will enjoy the cooked selection but I am more interested in the cold section and am hoping for a better selection of cheeses than the rubbery yellow and orange cubes served up in the other hotels and some nicer bread/rolls. Does anyone know if there is a muesli offered here? AFAIK the other four hotels all only offer Special K, Frosties, a hard, chocolate coloured cereal and something else I can't remember exactly. Although I enjoy the fresh fruit salad at the NBC/SL it would be nice to have some additional variety of fruit too. Would you say the cold section is an improvement on the NBC/SL or is it just the additional hot items that provide the upgrade and the rest is the same? I don't want to be disappointed with too high an expectation!

We had a cereal (maybe one of the new special k variety) which had clusters, nuts, yoghurt covered flakes & chocolate lumps which was nice & probably the closest thing to museli. The cheeses were... wait for it.... slices of rubbery white & red cheeses but there was a lovely tomato salsa type thing & aioli. I think there was a couple of extra variations of cheese too but cannot be sure. Great fresh fruit selection. We stayed in January & I also say try for the Manhattan. We much rathered it :)
