I just made a reservation at the Carnation cafe for 9:10 am. The park opens at 10 with mm at 9. Will it use our mm up if we go in for breakfast? Also, what time will the let us in for a reservation at 9:10? I used to know this stuff, buy I am not up on the current policies.

At WDW, they will let you in for a pre-opening ADR without EMH privileges. My understanding is that at Disneyland, you must have MM priviliges to dine during MM.

Go to the turnstile designated for ADRs and tell them you don't want to use the MM on your ticket. Carnation and Plaza Inn are before the rope drop area anyway.

You can have a dining reservation during EMH at Disneyland as well. There is a separate entrance on the left side where they check your reservation (we did this just a few weeks ago).

I don't know if you have an eligible MM whether they will force you to use it (we have APs so no MM), I would hope not.

Ahh man I wish I knew this, the ADR online has a warning posted requiring MM.

Plaza Inn is right inside the rope drop area past the ticket checkers. You can't get to the entrance of Plaza Inn without EMH or reservations, you have to get past the CMs first (again, just did this 3 weeks ago).

Once we didn't get checked until we walked through the castle, and another time we made it to about 10 feet from the rocket ships before being checked. This was several years ago now, though.

My family went to Minnie and Friends for breakfast last Christmas with 7:10 reservations on a Magic Morning day (regular park open was 8:00). We used one-day single park tickets with no MM entry. We used the line on the far left labeled Minnie & Friends Character breakfast. They had our name on a list and checked us in. They also gave us buttons to wear.

On another trip, we had muti-day park hopper tickets (and because we stayed across the street rather than on-site we only had the one MM entry on our tickets). One morning when we lined up in the non-magic morning lines, they started letting people in the regular lines into the park about halfway through the MM/EE time window. We were planning on using our MM a different day, so we just asked them not to use it when they scanned our tickets.

I see, yes they must have changed it.

Basically you can only enter Main Street and the hub area. I've included a map below. The purple area is roped off and they force EMH guests to go thru the checkpoint labeled with the red circle. The green circle is the entrance to Plaza Inn, so you can't quite make it there (though you are literally 20 feet away).

When I was there in the fall we stayed at PPH and used the extra hour each morning in both parks. We found the rope lines moved while we were in the park as they decided to let in more people closer to park hours opening so this can be inconsistent, we saw a family get stuck as the mom had all the passes and wandered off leaving them on a ride, when they tried to meet up with her the ropes had moved and the family had to call her back to the other side of the rope to meet up with them. This may be the reason they require you to use the ticket as it would be too difficult to sort out people going in for dining but not using the EMH or MM for rides. For this type of situation it may be best to actually call Disney to get an official answer rather than wasting your one MM on dining if you didn't plan on it.

IIRC, the day we had a Pre park opening Plaza Inn meal scheduled in November, it was also a MM morning. MM was 7-8, park opened at 8, our reservation was for 7:30. We did not have MM on our tickets (military 3 day tickets don't have the MM entry anymore). We had no problems going to our reservation.

Yes, this seems to be the consensus of experiences....It's too bad they have that cryptic warning on the resv page, it scared me off from booking a pre-opening bkfst.
