Breakfast Ideas

Hello everyone.

I am looking for a tasty, healthy breakfast that I can have in my office, which is where I usually have my breakfast just after getting in in the mornings.

I usually have one or two of some kind of sweet (chocolatey or peanut buttery) cereal bar, but there are some mornings that I'd like to have something that's not sweet.

Does anyone have any ideas of something non perishable (as the cereal bars are) that I can keep in my office for breakfast?

A Cliff Bar or Lava bar is a bit healthier than a standard cereal bar. I have instant oatmeal in my desk and go down to the kitchen at work to make that. Just watch out for the brands that have a bunch of added sugar. If you have a Trader Joe's by you they have some lower sugar selections.

Kashi makes some decent products and there is always fruit and nuts. I have raisins and almonds in my desk also.

Good luck finding something.
 
Breakfast Cookies. I forget who makes them (Quaker Oaks maybe). But they sell them in the granola bar aisle. The flavors are Oatmeal Chocolate Chip or Oatmeal Raisin. I don't like raisins so I get the chocolate chip ones. I don't know how healthy they are but I figure if it's got oatmeal it's good for you. And they are yummy. :goodvibes
 
What about those little boxes of cereal and then just buy a little bottle of milk. Or even brings some bagels or bread and a jar of peanut butter .
 

Oh me me! I have some ideas for you!

Wasa crackers and peanut butter. They have several varieties, but my favs are Crisp N Light (3 big crackers for 60 calories) and Multi Grain. I keep the Crisp N Light in my desk because of the difference in packages compared to the others. Their website has several ideas too. I also keep protein water mixes (like Crystal Light). It helps with the munchies.

Also, I'm not sure how much of a fan you are about being in the kitchen, but bellybytes (web site) has some pretty cool gorp recipes. Many savory ideas too. It could easily be stored in a desk drawer. Most of the recipes are low effort too (quick and easy). It's in the healthy recipes section.

I agree with the Kashi bars ~ yum!

I like them. They are less sweet tasting than some of the Kellogg and other main stream cereal products items.

There are Kashi cookies and granola type bars that are very good. There is also a company called Nature's Path that makes cereals and cereal bars that are way lower in sugar than most.

I wouldn't use them as a replacement for everything but as a morning or afternoon snack they are better than whatever is probably in the company vending machine.

If there is anywhere in the country that you can find natural alternatives Don, I think it would be SF :goodvibes
 
Non perishable is hard. I would agree with FireDancer (Frank).

My morning is usually fruit what ever is in season, one piece of whole wheat toast dry (ororwheat), a cup of 1% or 2% milk. I have almonds (plain), dried fruit (no sugar), or fresh fruit, and sometimes cheese for a snack.
