We are staying at RPR and taking advantage of early entry at 7 am for HP world in August. We will be packing breakfast snack foods (cereal bars, etc), as we will not be eating at the resort before we go to IOA. Unfortunately, my family NEEDS to eat 'real' foods for breakfast, or they turn into crazy people:scared:- is there any where in the parks to get food early?? What about around 9-10am- any better luck with other counter service locations? I think Three Broomstick serves breakfast, but no sure if I need a reservation for it. What time do lunch restaurants open- I couldn't seem to find any restaurant hours printed anywhere. Thanks!!:)

When we were there a couple weeks ago, we found that nothing opened till later other than the Starbucks/bakery locations. So, found no "real food" till after 11 or so. But maybe the hours change and/or your needs are different from ours and you will have better luck!

You can have an early breakfast at Pastamore in Citywalk.

Three Broomsticks opens for the beginning of early admission. No reservations are needed anymore.

Thanks for the info. We are actually staying at a vacation house and splurging to stay onsite at Universal one night, so I will pack the peanut butter and bread to get them through. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to answer!

3 Broomsticks will be your answer.

Unless you can wait until 10:30 when they start serving *lunch*.

And I hear you on the proper food thing.

:thumbsup2 Seriosly my DH and older DS NEED to eat or they turn I to evil monsters- must be a low blood sugar thing after not eating overnight-and it needs to be a protein kind of meal- no donuts or things like that...glad someone knows what I mean!

I love to here someone else refer to "real" food for breakfast, I am not a breakfast food fan but need to eat in the mornings. However we stayed at RPR in January this year and they have an a la carte area across from the lobby that had these amazing ham and cheese pockets, yum.

The first week of June we stayed at PBH and had breakfast at 3 broomsticks, I think the best part was the hot chocolate. Like I said in not big into breakfast but like the HP area. This last trip was about doing new things so we ate breakfast there. I ordered the English breakfast (I'm not English I live in L.A. (Lower Alabama) I think the English breakfast was a little too traditional for me :) the baked beans and hot chocolate were my favorite part.

I was eating real food at 10:30, if yours turn into monsters I would probably grab one of the ham and cheese pockets and pack a pb&j sandwich.

Is Cinnabon real food? ;)

We luckily don't have that problem since we come from an earlier time zone. We just eat a very early lunch once we get some touring out of the way.

Let me preface this by saying we are not health food nuts at all, but because DS was prone to migraines as a kid, he doesn't eat much sugar- if he were to consume a Cinnabon for breakfast, he would act like the Tasmanian devil before puking and then passing out :rotfl: sounds like he and DH will have to eat pb and j and then lunch when something opens. Those ham and cheese pockets sound like they may work, at least for DH. Thanks for the laugh, Planogirl!;)

that would be the Orchid Court Lounge.
it's in the RPH lobby.

it opens at 6:00 am and is ala cart.
some breakfast sandwiches are available there.

nice variety of selection and not expensive.

We eat here most mornings unless we`re doing the Islands breakfast. Fantastic value for money.

Croissant Moon Bakery should be another option......it`s lovely too. I think I remember it`s open early too.

Cinnabon smells so good when we walk past but I couldn't eat it either. Some people love it though.

I forgot about the Croissant Moon Bakery that others have already mentioned. That one might work!

Oh definitely. We had several Disneyland trips that helped solidify the fact that the menfolk in my household need FOOD. I do, too, but I can hold it together a LOT longer than they can. I don't start a tantrum until way later, LOL.

It's why food is such a big part of my planning for trips. We have our favorites for Universal...veggie burgers at Richters almost every day, the cheese pizza at the Woody Woodpecker area, and often DS twists our arms into getting an adult-sized plate of cheese ravioli at Lombard's. And other foods as well. Practically the whole point of my WDW pre trip report is *where are we going to eat*? :)

Our Disney trips have also helped us figure out what the guys canNOT have, ingredients-wise, after watching their reactions.

Food is very important in our family.

Just in case you've had a sneaking suspicion that maybe it's certain types of sugar, the passing out thing reminded me of DS. He would get violent, hyper, and then pass out, and it turns out it was when he ate things based on corn syrup. (so just that, also corn syrup solids, and HFCS) We had never looked at the ingredients in the Smuckers Uncrustables until one day at California Adventure, when I discovered they have corn syrup AND HFCS. Even at 3 he knew how badly he felt after eating those things, and opted to throw the rest of it away, rather than eat it. It was amazing, watching him make that decision when he was so little. So you might want to beware what *kind* of PB&J they eat, just in case it's not *all* sugars, but some types.

Since DH has a blood sugar meter, we can actually "watch" his blood sugar's reaction to table sugar vs the corn-based syrups. It's drastically different, and makes sense as to why the two of them have such big reactions (he's also stealth-tested DS's blood when there has been accidental consumption and it does the same sky-high/plummet thing). Gotta be careful with my guys!

So we typically start off with a Clif-brand protein bar of some kind, as our stomachs are waking up, then have an early-early lunch. 10:30 is 7:30 in the morning for us for most of our trips, so it's a little confusing, but not having tantrums is worth it!

Actually, we eat only pb sandwiches, no j- but it was easier for me to write as pj and j :) but thanks you for the info. But I hear you on the food additives thing- my DS is so sensitive to sugar. He spent the night at a friends house several years ago and had Mountain Dew :crazy2: He was like a crazy man- we drink diet sodas, so it's not like it was the soda itself. The sugar and caffeine did him in.
