Breakfast at DLH?

What do you and your family usually do for breakfast when staying at the Disneyland Hotel? My DDs will be 17 and 20 when we're there so they're not cranky in the morning (usually!) but we like to start the day with something good. Is there somewhere in the hotel to eat, not a full sit down breakfast but more than just a muffin and a coffee, or do you have a favourite place in the park that isn't too busy?

When we have stayed at DLH, we don't eat at the hotel. There really isn't anywhere to get a quick breakfast. However, at the Grand Californian, we like White Water Snacks, which offers a nice selection for a quick breakfast. You order at the register and then your food is brought to your table. There is also a selection of fruits and pastrys available.

In Downtown Disney we have only tried Ralph Brennan's Creole Cafe for a quick breakfast and enjoyed it. They seemed to have a similar selection to White Water Snacks (but I prefer the atmosphere of White Water Snacks). Rainforest Cafe offeres a very large sit down breakfast.
Catal and La Brea Bakery also have breakfast, but I have yet to try these two.

If you want breakfast in the park, I highly recommend Carnation Cafe, but make sure you make a reservation. It is a full sit down meal, but well worth the time! They offer large breakfast selections at a good price. Plus you can't beat the cafe atmosphere and people-watching on Main Street.
For a quick breakfast in the park, you can go to River Bell Terrace (where you will find Mickey Mouse Pancakes) as well as Tomorrowland Terrace.

I always have room service. They have a nice menu and my kids love it. Saves us time too as we can eat right away and be ready for a full day. If you eat enough, you can skip lunch and snack. You will save money.

The DLH has a coffee shop where we bought breakfast a few times - bagels, pastries, fruit salad, yoghurt etc.

Our teens' favourite breakfast spot is Ralph Brennen's. It's fast, good, and cheap! And DD14 loves her some "man-catchin' beignets"!

ETA it's a 2-minute walk away from the DLH and down Downtown Disney. It gets you going on your way to the parks!

Have you seen the prices for room service at the resort hotels! Everyone in my group wants their own. Just not an easy way to get an early breakfast(reasonably priced).

Brennan's does not open til 0800, park opens at 0800 except mm which is 0700. Still no breakfast intime to get to the parks.

We usually are in line before anything much is open, so we go into the parks first and then often stop back at La Brea later for a nice breakfast. It's in DTD near the main DL entrance.

I must tell you, though, that we love eating at Steakhouse 55 for breakfast at DLH. The menu is good, service and ambience excellent, and the price is very reasonable (comparatively speaking). We do tend to share a few meals since my girls are younger and I don't eat a whole breakfast myself. We love to start our day at Steakhouse 55 when we're staying at DLH. We found the cost to be comparable, for us, to buying "on the go" items from the coffee shops etc.

Thanks so much for the great info everyone! We will be arriving at the DLH in the afternoon before our first full day at the parks. We haven't been through DTD yet so are planning an evening of wandering around and figuring out where everything is. We'll definitely check out all the places suggested.

Excellent point. Wasn't thinking of that. We DID get to the parks because of stopping for breakfast.
