Can anyone out there recommend a restaurant for breakfast at 7 am? I can't find anything open at DD until 8 am and I don't want to do the character breakfast at GCH.

So it's not character meals in general you are opposed to, but just Storytellers in the GCH?

Well, if you are open to other character meals, Goofy's Kitchen in the DLH is open at 7:00 a.m. and they have a very large buffet (much bigger than the Storytellers buffet). I believe that Lilo and Stitch also opens at 7:00 a.m. and that is located in the PCH Grill restaurant in the PPH. They have buffet or off the menu options.

I THINK you can get into Minnie & Friends inside DL at 7:00 a.m. on certain mornings. I don't know enough about Minnie & Friends to say for sure, but it seems like some mornings people can get in that early and other mornings they cannot.

Otherwise, all the restaurants in DTD are not open that early, except for maybe Compass Books. Most of them that serve breakfast open at 8:00 a.m., I think.

Wish I could help.. i had that problem yesterday but could not find anything (working on my pretrip report lol
)

Should have been more clear-- I'm trying to avoid the character breakfast and may need to go offsite.

Minnie and Friends, Plaza Inn in DL, takes 7:10 ps ressies on magic morning days. At least for the summer season. You don't have to have a mm ticket to get in that early, just ressies at the restaurant. HTH!

NM then. I thought you wanted a character breakfast, just not the Storyteller's one.

It seems I don't know my own mind yet. That sounds like fun and I think I'll try it. Thank you.

Didn't you say you didn't want a character breakfast? If you are at all apprehensive about character meals, be aware that Minnie & Friends has LOTS of characters and lots of character interaction. The Storytellers breakfast is probably the character meal that is the most calm and relaxed for those who may be wary. Storytellers is not my personal favorite (I prefer Goofys Kitchen for the wide selection of buffet items), but many people prefer Storytellers because it is laid back and relaxed, and there are not SO many characters coming by that you can't eat your food. So just be aware!

I've seen different pricing for the character breakfasts. Can someone tell me what the current costs are for them?

Okay, now I'm undecided again. Any offsite suggestions anybody?

Hmmm.....it has to be 7:00 a.m., huh? If you could wait until 8:00 a.m., that would open up some options in Downtown Disney, like Rainforest Cafe, LaBrea Bakery, etc. A lot of people eat at Mimi's and Millie's nearby - I am not sure what time they open but that may be an idea for you. Of course, IHOP is also across the street, but is super expensive!

Really? I can't imagine anything more shockingly expensive than Storyteller's! I am still reeling over my 18.00 French Toast! OP, good call on skipping the character breakfast there. It was disappointing for us....oh, and crazy expensive for what you get....

I have not eaten at that IHOP across for DLR personally, but everyone on the DIS who has commented on it has said to avoid it lilke the plague because it is more expensive than any other IHOP you will ever find! One DIS-er even gave us the rundown of her bill total for the number of people and it was outrageous!

But I totally agree with you about Storytellers. The menu prices are ridiculously high. I am still reeling from my $17 eggs and bacon with toast breakfast!!:scared1: That is why, whenever anyone suggests Storytellers because it has menu ordering AND buffet, I try to pop on if I can and make sure to mention that, if you are going to go to Storytellers at all, get the buffet and not the menu orders. The buffet is a better value. But that is not my character meal of choice, of course. I can't get into the Brother Bear characters. I suggest it because other people on the DIS like it and it IS more laid back than the other character meals, so it may be a good place to start for those who are character meal-shy or apprehensive. Yes, Goofy's Kitchen is more expensive than the other character meals, but for the variety and quality of food that they have available in the buffet, as well as the classic Disney characters that come by to say hello, to me it is a much better value and always my favorite.

But all that aside, I am still wondering if Mimi's or Millie's is open at 7:00 a.m.? If so, one of those may be the way to go for the OP - no characters anywhere in sight!!

Mimi's is open by 7:00 and its reasonable in price. Plus MUCH better food than IHOP.

Guess I'm the odd-man out as I don't think the pricing on the menu at Storyteller's is that out of line.

OP, I think Whitewater Snacks is open at 7. While it does have the word "snack" in the title, those meals are pretty filling and nicely priced as well.

Heya,

Mimi's is open 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. 7 days a week. Last time I was at Disneyland, it was also one of the best meals of the trip, good service and value. Good comfort food.

Only the breakfast menu at Storytellers is what I find expensive (proportionate to the serving size and compared to what you could pay for the same size meal at another restaurant). The lunch menu prces are actually a bit lower than breakfast and pretty reasonable, but then again, lunch is not a character meal so they drop the prices a bit.

White Water Snacks is a good suggestion!:thumbsup2 Good thinking! People seem to love it there and apparently they have good breakfast items.

Mimi's was fabulous for breakfast on our trip last year. We cannot wait to have Mimi's again on our next trip! Also, Denny's was just redone last year so that would be open @ 7 as well. Our Denny's breakfasts the year before last were very good, filling and inexpensive.

Do avoid the IHOP - food in our experience not as good as other IHOPS, service was SLOW and poor and prices were outrageous. If prices were high, but food was good and service was good, we would say "Ok, it's Disneyland! So it's expensive!" But it is SOOO not worth it.

Thanks to everyone for the excellent ideas. I'm going to do either Whitewater snacks or Mimi's.
