My questions are about timing. If our res is around 8:00, how early should we be at the turnstiles? Is there a special gate for people with reservations? Are the CMs ok with us taking our time strolling up the nearly empty Main Street?

There will be separate turnstiles labeled "character breakfast" - usually off to the far right end. Once thru the turnstiles, you will line up in a separate roped off area and will be let in to MK usually around 7:50 am. You can certainly take your time getting to your destination - the cms won't be prodding you along.

We loved this breakfast with the kids. They love the food and Pooh's Parade. I love building and the early morning light that come through the windows. Watch shooting into the sun facing the windows as you could miss a few shots. Take a window chair and shoot into the room or parallel with the windows. Much better.

we LOVE Crystal Palace !! the food is wonderful, the character interaction is terrific and it's just light and happy and pretty in the restaurant.
Crystal Palace and Tusker House were our 2 favorite character breakfasts. We actually had ADR's our last day for lunch before leaving for the airport, but our DD kept wanting to go on Space Mountain...again, and again, and again. So, I had to cancel lunch.

You'll have a great time though !!! The earlier the better... you can get fantastic pictures in front of Cinderella's castle with minimal people. We got some of our best family pics from the morning that we went.

I'll jump on the bandwagon and say we love CP for breakfast, too! It's a must do every trip for us. One trip, it was closed for refurbs so we opted for Tusker House. Didn't enjoy it as much. Next trip we were back to CP.
