For those who have had breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Castle ~ how does it work. We had to pre-pay the $44.99 per person. Do you order one plated entree or is it a buffet, or what? Thank you.

If it is like Lunch..it is plated..but I have never been there for breakfast..just lunch. Sorry I can't be of more help.

They bring out pastries to share for the table and each person orders a breakfast entree

They bring the pastries for the table. The have options for the meal, I believe there are 3. You can order one of the other plates after you finish the first one. It is similar to a buffet but they are pre-plated meals. you can ask for specific things like more scrambled eggs, more of a certain pastries, ect.

Unfortunately, the latter part is no longer true. For a long time, it was still the case, but was no longer publicized. recently I had it confirmed internally that the meal really is no longer AYCTE. While guests may be able to get a little more mashed potatoes or a couple more sausages, I would no longer plan on getting a whole nother entre - something I did for years.

My daughter and I went to breakfast at CRT, it was awful. We were sat in a section that had many dirty, unbussed tables and food all over the floor. Our waiter was rude and we were rushed. He came and removed the pastry tray without even asking if we were done. We were not done with it. He dropped the bill and we were in and out within 40 minutes. I will not do it again for a long time. I felt so ripped off for the amount of money I paid. The food was OK, not good, not bad. We are trying BOG and Sci-fi breakfast for our trip this December. Fingers crossed it will be enjoyable. I think it will.

The CRT drill goes as follows:

1. Check in and wait to be called
2. Wait in line to have your picture taken with Cinderella downstairs
3. Walk upstairs and get seated at a table
4. Order one of the options off of the breakfast menu, which will be pre-plated and brought to your table (regardless of what you order, a plate of pastries will be brought for the table to share, along with drinks, then the individual entrees are brought out)
5. Princesses (Snow White, Auora, Jasmine, Ariel) come to your table while you eat
6. The check arrives (usually about the time the last princess visits)

The whole thing typically takes about an hour.

Every time we have done this, the service has been very rushed and jaded (their incentive is quantity of customers "processed", not quality of service, as the tip is already included). In that regard, you get the feeling they hate their job and resent you (your best chance to have a decent experience with your server is to decide what to order before hand and not make any special requests, regardless of how minor - nothing annoys them more than customers who think they're entitled to something special because they paid a lot of money for the experience).

As far as the food quality goes, the pastries are somewhat above average but the entrees are very mediocre. The (under age 9) kids' breakfasts are a joke (similar to a kids' breakfast at Burger King).

In sum, from a service and food perspective, we've had better experiences at most character buffets. For that matter, we've had better experiences at Denny's and IHOP.

We return because we love the experience of eating in the castle with a pre-park opening ADR (this, along with the princesses, helps us overlook the forgettable food and surly service). We also like not having to worry about missing a character while we're trying to eat (unlike buffets). It's just a shame the food and service can't be better. But I suppose they have little incentive to do so as long as people like us keep returning (we probably need to start voting with our wallet).
