I am just starting to look into our first cruise for next spring and I have several questions. The ones I am thinking about the most are of couse about eating. I understand the dining rotations for dinner, but how is breakfast and lunch done? Is there a buffet going for all meals? What about snacks and such in between meals? Are they included or do they cost extra? Thanks! You guys are full of great info!

All of your meals are included in the price of the cruise (there is a small charge for Palo). Dinner is at your assigned restaurant but breakfast and lunch can be done anywhere, anytime. There is a breakfast buffet at Topsiders, there is a sit down breakfast at a restaurant, and then there's always room service! ;) Lunch is buffet at Topsiders (different themes during the week; Asian, Italian, Mexican), sit down lunches at a restaurant or you can do hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, wraps, etc. at the little places by the pools.
We didn't snack much, when we did it was usually cookies and the cheese platter from room service. But there is Scoops ice cream which is open all day and also has fresh fruit! yum.

There is no rotation for breakfast or lunch, you can either do a sit down in the restaurants or the buffet breakfast/lunch at Topsiders. You can get snacks at the various fast food outlets on the pool deck throughout the day, there is even ice cream at Scoops which is also on the pool deck at the rear of the ship. All the food is included in the price of the cruise....hope this helps out, Andy

Unfortunately, breakfast on the Disney Magic is not particularly good (and I doubt breakfast on the Disney Wonder is any better). In comparison, I think dinner is quite good.

But you have a choice! You can have a sit-down, table service brekfast in Lumiere's, a scheduled character breakfast on a sea day (or Key West day), buffet breakfast at Parrot Cay (on port days) or Topsider's, room service, or pastry at the Cove Cafe.

When I say "not very good," think McDonald's style has browns, Denny's style bacon, and reconstituted orange juice. It's okay, but if you expect a breakfast that you might get at a deluxe hotel, you'll be disappointed.

I LOVE the breakfasts on the Wonder & Magic. We almost always eat at Lumiere's/Triton's. My husb & I both like to be waited on for our meals, as opposed to buffet-style. We find the food on the ships to be very good & especially enjoy the breakfasts.::yes::

That's a lot of eatin! My husband and I took a short cruise on Carnival last year and hated the food. Sounds like there will be a lot more options here and my kids are going to love it! Hot Dogs and fries all day long! Is there a character breakfast on the 4 day cruise as well? And, let me get this right... for breakfast and lunch we just walk in wherever we want? Is Animator's Pallete not open for Breakfast and Lunch? Thanks for all the quick answers!

Hi Zaxmom

There is no character breakfast on the 3/4 day cruises unfortunately.

Yes, for breakfast you can eat where and when you like with the exception of debarkation morning where you dine at a particular time (with your servers) at the restaurant you had dinner at the previous night. This is not mandatory though and you can head up to the buffet at your own pace if you prefer, but obviously not the other restaurants. Room service is not available on the last morning either.

Animators Palate is only open for dinner except for the debarkation breakfast.

My family have travelled considerably and stayed in many hotels and been on other cruise lines, and I would rate Disney Magic as the best breakfast.

The kids love the cakes, I like the fruit, and the ladies love the made to order Omelettes.

What I wouldn't do for a cheese danish right now! We've been on the 3/4 day Magic, Eastern and Western and I don't remember having any bad food. I made some bad choices - things I didn't care for but they were quickly replaced. I love that the buffet offers a little of everything.

Remember - if you don't like it - send it back. You paid for it and why waste the calories on yucky food?

Kim

We just returned from the 3 day Wonder, the food was GREAT! Breakfast was easy, we chose to do the buffet at our own pace with a fussy 7 yr old who lived on PB&J and Grapes. LOL
We had sit down for lunch except on CC. I did get one soup that was OK, but at that point I had eaten WAY to much bread so I was getting full. My poor server Dario, was so worried I didn't like something, I had to beg him not to bring me anything else to replace it. Now that is attention!
