Breakdowns, shutdowns and glitches!

Alas, our 68th visit to the WDW was marked by breakdowns (monorail, once again), shutdowns (Winnie the Pooh and the up ramp at the People Mover) and glitches (Haunted Mansions' ghost host audio track filled with breaks and gaps, and erratic bus schedules).

Nevertheless, we'll give it another try in October.

Winnie the Pooh was shut down? All day or just for a little while. HM surprises me though. I know it often stops but I just assumed it was for disabilities getting on or off the ride. Maybe the 69th visit will be lucky!

I've never been on Haunted Mansion when it hasn't stopped, you mean it's not supposed to? (kidding) Given how big Disney is and how many rides they run, I'm not surprised there aren't more breakdowns. It's always a good time for me to discover something new.

Several days ago, Winnie had periodic breakdowns (sounds like an emotional disorder!) and the following day (at least while we were there) it was closed. FP+ folks were allowed to go on another designated attraction.

As we mentioned, were referring to the Ghost Host "audio track." It had several interruption breaks which made the wonderful "welcome, foolish mortals" introduction difficult to completely understand. First timers on the attraction (always easy to spot) seemed confused.
One other thing: instead of a doom buggy behind us, we had a Victorian ottoman! Creepy cool!

When were down in March it was running but a lot of the animatronics weren't. I think it is in desperate need for a refurb.

Me too, maybe I'm bad luck. I think I've actually been in line once when SM didn't break down. And I can't remember a time when HM didn't break down or the ride in the big ball (I can't remember the name sorry) at Epcot. That one always breaks down at the boring park when you are on your back and staring at the stars. Good time to sleep though.

We usually experience at least one favorite ride break down on each visit. The only one that was a real bummer was the last time we were at epcot the Maelstrom was down and we never got our final ride before they retired her.

Same here. I've never had it stop for all that long but it always has a stoppage. I think 90% of them are from stupid guest syndrome, something Disney can't control, sadly.

As for the People Mover up ramp, they had it off on our trip last week for a period of time because the line was backing up on it just a bit. As soon as that run got loaded, they turned it right back on.
However, the moving sidewalk leaving SM was off and that was a PITA. Then we saw 2 kids running back against traffic and we figured it was again a case of stupid guest syndrome

I've never had it stop for all that long but it always has a stoppage. I think 90% of them are from stupid guest syndrome, something Disney can't control, sadly.

Regarding HM. Some stoppages may be due to SGS, but many, if not most, instances will be due to handicapped guests boarding or exiting the ride vehicles.

The People Mover ramp was stopped when we were there in July, the Space Mountain exit was stopped the last day of our trip (both times we rode 8 hours apart) and while we were in line for Winnie the Pooh they announced they had to remove a faulty honey pot then I noticed they weren't letting anyone else enter the line. We rode fine after a bit of a delay.

Ah, makes sense. I hadn't thought about it but yeah, I guess they would need to stop to let them on. Strange part is I don't recall a similar issue on LM or Nemo

The Little Mermaid stopped 5 times while we were on it in July. There is a recording that comes on and says something about the clam shell stopping and will be moving soon. Then (assuming after the shell is un/loaded) another recording comes on saying the shell will start now. We thought we would ride real quick since there was no line, then we were headed off to our Wishes FP. I will admit every time the ride stopped I panicked a little bit that we were going to be stuck there. I didn't enjoy the ride very much, my own fault of course!

Theme park rides are highly complicated with many moving parts. Things break down on occasion. You should actually be glad it took you sixty eight trips before you had something to complain about.

I guess we've been fortunate-not too many breakdowns in all our trips to WDW. But I remember one that scared the c**p out of us. It was way back in 1994, when ToT first opened, and it was our first ride on it. The elevator whooshed up, stopped, and stayed stopped. Then a voice came over the intercom that there were "technical difficulties" and we were slowly lowered down, walked through a backstage area and given another ride. Until we went on it again, we didn't know if the "technical difficulties" were really just part of the attraction!
