I ran the numbers on several resorts, differing room views, but for the exact same dates and the same number of guests.
I did the test with normal rates and then with the discount rates.
The dates I used was December 15-22 (which is value season) for 7 nights with 2 adults and 2 juniors.
For the regular season comparison, the dates I used were in EARLY NOVEMBER for 7 nights with 2 adults and 2 juniors.
The tickets I used were 7 day MYW with park hopping in all calculations.
The results are in!!!!
Value resorts save $235 or $33.50 per night (value season savings)
Value resorts save $409 or $58.50 per night (regular season savings)
Moderate resorts save $315 or $45.00 per night (value season savings)
Moderate resorts save $425 or $60.70 per night (regular season savings)
Deluxe resorts save $297.50 or $42.50 a night. (value season savings)
Deluxe resorts save $688.10 or $98.30 a night. (regular season savings - NOTE!!!! I used Poly Garden view in this example.)
Not sure why moderates save more dollars per night???? Maybe they currently have mnore availability.
Also.... The total trip cost for dates in regular season are the same as in value season.
So... Those originally booked at regular rate during regular season will have a bigger total dollar savings when the discount is applied than those who were originally booked at regular rate during value season. The bottom line, however, is that we will pay the SAME total dollars regardless of the season we are in.
Example:
AS Music 7 nights - November 4-11 (Regular season) 2 ad, 2 jr, 7 day MYW tickets with park hopping
RACK PRICE - $1738.64
Discounted Price - $1328.80
Savings of $409.84 ($58.50 savings per night - 7 nights)
Same deal during value season - December 4-11
RACK PRICE - $1563.78
Discounted price - $1328.80
Savings of $235.00 ($33.50 savings per night - 7 nights)
So... Even though the 'regular season' guest is saving more dollars, they are paying the same total dollars as the value season guest.
Hope this helps!
