Yes my parents are in Decatur and say its all over. We are now near Indy and bad here too. It was so bad in my sons class one day before break she had over half out with it!

Kansas here and stomach virus is everywhere, as is the actual flu (sinus, head, etc.)

My DD and I were sick in WDW last week. We ate at the GF cafe. She had the Pasta with shrimp and I tried some of it. We were both sick all night. There was NO way we could have dreamed of going to the parks the next day. Not sure if I had a fever or not but we could both hardly move for 24 hours. On the positive side, I didn't gain any weight at Disney for a week ;)

Every year during the winter months Disney has the outbreak of a multitude of viruses coming in from a crush of visitors all over the globe.

And every year, every other state in the US breaks out with some sort of flu, it's not just Disney or Florida! I've lived in NY, DC, TN, FL, France, Canada and guess what, we had flues & stomach viruses there too!

You travel with the sniffles hoping it won't get worse because you don't want to ruin the family vacation. You hop a plane ride with other sick travelers and within a day of arriving at Disney you get full blown flu/cold etc. Is that due to Disney............... No! It sucks to be sick on vacation but the truth is people don't stay home from work, school, or vacation when sick, they go out and share !

Oh my goodness...hand washing is the single best thing we can do to keep from getting sick. Scrub-a-dub-dub! :thumbsup2

Please do not lick the lean rails.

My kids and I say that to each other all the time because the last time we were there we watched this 5 or 6 year old kid in front of us slide his tongue down the lean rails at BTMRR. It was hilarious and gross (to think about).

That's one sure way to know if it is a virus. Most people are running a fever with it. Mine was over 102. Also, it seems to be taking 4 or more days before your stomach starts returning to normal. I couldn't have more than sprite and toast for 3 days. By the 4th day I was starting to feel a bit more normal. But it took another couple days before I could eat anything spicy or difficult to digest.

Good luck getting Tamiflu in Orlando. We just came back last night. My son and DH and I had a flu shot. My brother did not. The last three days of the trip he spent in a separate room (we originally had a family suite). Had to go all over town to find Tamiflu. Took four or five hours of calling.

Worst flu outbreak in a decade. Way higher levels than H1N1.

Boston has just declared a state of emergency due to the rates of flu.

Hospitals everywhere are overwhelmed, and some have set up triage areas outside in hospital parking lots so that patients are isolated from others.

Surely hope people are being vigilant while at Disney, due to the sheer numbers of people one can come in contact with, but since we all know that people go to the parks sick, you wouldn't catch me anywhere around there.

OP seems to be witness to a stomach virus, which are prevalent in winter months, so a double health whammy right now.

Good health to all, Tiger

Seriously that's just gross and wrong!!! I for one would not want to be out in public vomiting!!! I don't care where I was!!! That's awful.
And there is a gastrointestinal virus running rampant everywhere right now!!!!

As an aside, if you ever go to New Orleans and visit Bourbon Street staying out past midnight, wear shoes you can throw away in the hotel lobby. Most of them aren't contagious, though ;)

And I wouldn't recommend licking anything in that particular area, handrail or not.
