Fall as finally arrived and it's time to start making some homemade breads! :goodvibes

no one told me it was a fall thing, I make bread year round ??:confused3

Fresh baked bread isn't just for fall! :goodvibes

I bought a Breadman Pro in July and started using it right away. It doesn't heat the kitchen up like the oven would. I mostly bought it for making gluten-free bread for myself as it has a gluten-free setting, but I've made a few loaves of regular bread for DH too. He especially loved the 9-grain bread. And I made a cheesy herb bread last week that he enjoyed too.

Fresh, warm bread is soooooooooo good!! :thumbsup2

I have a bread machine, but I never use it. Please share some recipes that will get me in the mood to bake more.

I received a bread machine for christmas and don't use it too often as we are tired of plain old bread...can we give each other recipe ideas in this thread?

We stopped using our bread machine about 15 years ago. The growth in our waists......and the side effects the yeast had on our digestive system kind of made that necessary.

We bake fresh bread year around, but we never use our bread machine anymore. DH just bakes it in the oven.

I got fed up with rising bread prices back in Jan and dusted off my bread machine. Have been making all our loaves of bread ever since. Bought the 50# bag of bread flour at Costco (great deal for around $12.) and just finally emptied the rest of it into my large tupperware container.

Love that my family is eating something wholesome (I add in 1/3 whole wheat flour) with no extra and weird additives. The times I've had to buy storebought bread on vacation has made me miss the homemade bread.

At Bed Bath Beyond they sell a reclosable plastic container that perfectly holds a loaf of bread machine bread. It's the kind that snaps on 4 sides. I put a piece of paper towel in the bottom of it and the bread stays fresh and good for 2 or 3 days (although it usually gets eaten up much sooner!).

Have fun. There was a great bread thread a few months ago on the Budget Board I think. Lots of good recipes and suggestions.

I love love love bread and unfortunately, it loves me! Puts on the pounds like crazy. I have stayed away from my bread machine for months. I do love making cinnamon buns from its dough, but again, I have to stay away from such treats! Nothing like fresh bread, though!

MIGrandma what makes the gluten free setting different than the other settings? And what is your receipy for gluten free breads? Any gluten free bread I have made only tastes good the first day. After that forget it. Any help would be great. If the machine mixed it I could take it out and bake it in the oven if that would help.

Sounds delish!!!

Cough up the recipe;)!!!

No recipe, sorry. It is a boughten mix, made by Hodgson Mills. My grocery store has several different kinds of their bread mixes: 9-Grain, Cheesy Herb, Potato, etc.

Gluten-free bread doesn't rise, so the gluten-free setting on my bread machine skips that process. The machine came with a booklet with several recipes, a few of them are gluten free. My first loaf turned out horrible, as I used potato flour and should have used potato starch. :( I then tried a boughten gluten-free mix (Gluten Free Pantry) and it turned out great. Nice, big slices (unlike boughten gluten-free bread where the slices are so teeny tiny). I sliced it and froze them individually (wrapped in saran wrap then put in quart-size freezer bags) and just take them out as I need them and they taste fine after they have thawed.
