I am finding it about 50/50 on posted menus for Garden Grill lunch in terms of if it includes the bread or not.

If I change from breakfast I would prefer lunch as I don't eat fish - but (not to be too Oprah about it) the bread and spread sounds wonderful and I would hate to miss it.

From people who have done lunch there recently, is the bread served at lunch?

Are you asking about the "pecan roll like" bread served in the skillet at breakfast? If so I think that is only at breakfastb

No, that is now a cinnamon roll type thing (guess more people like cinnamon than nasty pecans).

I am asking about the "basket of warm bread with orange blossom honey butter" that is listed on all dinner menus and about half the lunch menus I can find.

Yes you are correct. I was thinking about the "cinnamon rolls" & couldn't come up with right description. I don't know the answer to your question. Sorry

In case you missed some of the other threads, it looks like all the character buffets have gone to one price for lunch AND dinner. The assumption is the food will be the same at both meals. That should mean you WILL have the bread at lunch, but it also means you'll have the fish. I believe you can tell them you prefer not to have the fish and they'll bring you extra of the other proteins offered, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Thanks. Yeah... Turns out I've been playing around and have totally changed my schedule - haha! So I am sticking with my breakfast on 8/20 and doing MK on my arrival day with 1900 Park Fare for dinner. Haha!

We have told them to delete various things but they usually just bring out the entire plate, anyway. It must be easier. A good way to avoid fish completely is to just note it on your 'special requests' when booking. Check off box that lists allergy to 'fish'.

I do not think listing a "preference" as an "allergy" is the right thing to do. So many people are now listing allergies it is becoming difficult for Disney to manage and it places those with true allergies in a difficult position

Aren't lunch and dinner the same now? Big change went over March 1.

The problem with listing yourself as having an allergy is that they will treat you exactly as if you do have an allergy. Should you ask for anything on the no no list for that allergy you won't get it. Not sure what else they won't give you if you state you have a fish allergy.

Exactly, which is why I won't list it as though it makes me gag to taste it, it's not an allergic reaction gag - it's because I choked on a fish bone when I was younger and my body imprinted the taste and texture of fish with gagging to the point of being sick.

Similarly, because my peanut sensitivity is NOT anaphylactic (at this point), I don't list it but if there is a possibility of something having peanuts I ask "because I don't like them" so that something I KNOW is safe doesn't get changed or denied because it's "from the facility with peanuts".

But... Moot point now for this trip as I have totally changed things up. Haha!

You should still list it, as you can have an anaphylactic reaction without a prior history. They won't deny you anything 'from a facility with peanuts'. I have a peanut allergy and I always list it and that has never been mentioned, they just tell me what has peanuts in it.

In this case, it would not affect anything else as GG doesn't serve a whole lot of different things.

It seemed more than a preference; the poster seemed to feel strongly about 'no fish'. And I would also have just asked to not have it on the plate, but when we have gone, and asked for things to 'not be on the plate', they have not accommodated. And we go there every trip.

If they do not want people to say they're allergic, they should accommodate those who make a simple request. Otherwise, it may be the only way to get your request met.

all the same...it is problematic to use an allergy designation to have a preference met. they have to be very serious about allergies because they don't want to kill anybody. If you can't stand having fish on the table, explain that to the servers.

Maybe it's different in the parks, but on the cruise line they DO modify things. I had a sundae on the first cruise where I didn't mention it (well, the concierge asked if I was comfortable removing it since it's not anaphylactic and I said yes) but it carried over to my second and when I ordered the SAME sundae but they refused to make it for me - and there were NO nuts in it.

In my experience, it is different in the parks.

I can see the cruise crew not wanting to be responsible for 'same facility' items, as it is possible to have an anaphylactic reaction to those items. Especially on a ship, where you may be hours or miles from land/advanced hospital facilities. Those epi pens are only good for 20 minutes and then you must re-administer/seek more help.

I have some severe allergies as well and I typically just avoid desserts at picnics, parties, and places where I can't know how something was made. And I always carry medications/epi pens in case.

Nasty pecans?

You are dead to me.

I was going to book dinner just for the rolls( i have two hungry teenage boys), but if we could get them with lunch, that would be great.
